Alloy makes a difference as well. Us an alloy that tends to drop undersized in an undersized mould and don’t expect good results.

I would not be surprised at all that between mould manufacture and alloy variation that a .004 “range” of diameters isn’t possible.

Sizing isn’t exact either- harder bullets will tend to size larger due to some spring back.

Yeah Lee molds can be a crap shoot, what do you want for $50 6 cavity mold. I have one or two that work in certain guns but not in others. That might be why I have 80 or 90 molds.
But, Arsenal has certain mold designs that Jared offers and when ordered you can specify the diameter you want. I’m sure although I’ve never asked but he would cut about any design that you might want.
I have found his molds are spot on with weight and diameter.
NOE’s molds, when in stock, are also exactly as they are drawn. Some are a bit larger in the nose than I might want but…
Accurate’s molds can be ordered to your exacting specifications.
All molds will very with alloy.
I find that Powder coating is sometimes needed to get the diameter needed or to be able to use a softer alloy at a higher velocity. Most pistol loadings I use are great with BLL. For a little more velocity some Ben’s Red and BLL combinations work good until I step into PC velocity/needs.

Just for your info I know it sounds like I was trying to get a commission from Ben, but then I find he hasn’t made a dime off his lube formulas.

But I’m also not fussy or demanding, although some rifle cartridge combinations can be frustrating. 38-55 and a certain High Wall come to mind.

But most here know this stuff so it’s not breaking news, but frustrations are generally cure able. There are a myriad of options to the point that I will relegate a rifle to the back burner out of frustration.

Anyway if you’re having trouble with a particular mold, go buy a different one. The frustrating mold will work for something else in the future.

Which individual mould? Of the three I've owned, they cast at .355, .356, and .357. Same alloy (same lot!), same setup, cast the same day.

Bummer was that Inglis had a .358 bullet seat, and none of them shot as well as I thought they should.
Exactly why I dont waste time with Lee moulds anymore.
