I am not a fan of calling the cops, but would say that it is called for in this situation. Glad you did not go over the line with him. He would have deserved it, but would would have suffered in the long run with today's political climate.

I saw one where an idjit put a bunch in a refrigerator. The door barely missed him! Debris at the detonation site is bad enough. Putting it in an oven/fridge or any other container is plain stupid.

"OK, OK, I'm going as fast as I don't want to go!"
There are a bunch of idiots on YouTube showing how they get hit by flying debris from this same type of thing. One guy lost a leg and it went viral.

I honestly don't see a point in using the stuff. I just want to practice my shooting. I saw enough stuff blow up when I was a Tank Commander in an M60A3.

Seriously, I would recommend speaking with your friend at the Sheriff's Dept. Last year my wife and I were at the range when an older couple set up a few benches to our right. After a few minutes I looked over and there he was facing us swing his revolver back and forth, my wife went down and asked him to keep the muzzle pointed down range. His female friend snipped back "What's wrong, it's unloaded". Never mind immediately behind them the range rules are posted. Rule nbr 1: Keep you muzzle pointed down range.

We shortly gathered up our stuff and left. For the rest of the afternoon the experience ate at my wife, she eventually called a friend who is one of our local Sheriff Deputies. They had a nice talk about the reckless endangerment charges the could be pressed, being new to a very small town we did not want to rock the boat as we knew the female. Next time we were told don't say a thing, get a video if possible, pack up and leave, then give her a call.

Tomme, please call your friend, get it off your chest, and learn what the options are that will put the other guy in the spot light not only now but in the future.

At the casting bench in the sky. RIP Bret.

I think in this case you may have criminal/civil issues on his part. I don't know the whole layout, but it sounds to me like he's destroying your berm with explosives. Pretty sure that's not kosher. Then theres the whole using explosives to endanger bystanders so far away. I would research, or have your acquaintance (never refer to your cop friends as friends if you are making a complaint! That can get the cop in all sorts of feces!) the LEO do it to see what the limits on this stuff may be under local, state and Federal law. I have little doubt there is something that would apply someplace. Or, leave it lay and talk to the range people and get some clear signage up.

In the end it's all up to you.

I agree with other commenters. Ya need ta inform authorities. Uneducated use of this product could and likely WILL get someone hurt. This kids behavior's needs reining in. You dont wanna be wishing ya spoke up when someones kid catches something in the head next time...

When I was a kid with fireworks, Dad told me his story. In his teens, he and buddy were blasting stumps out with dynamite. One was slow to go off, buddy looked out from tree they were hiding behind and got decapitated. GKs have shot at tannerite only under adult supervision and SMALL amounts.

The neighbor's kids which aren't full time residents. decided it would be fun to ignite quite alot of that Tannerite. The first explosion literally shook our house which is a half mile away from where the explosion was. We didn't just feel the concussion our house literally shook. When I confronted them they said it was no big deal.
