Got my house back

I love my family, really I do, but I have to say I am glad me and my wife got our house back after 3 weeks. Aarons parents came in from Colorado and have been here for an extended Christmas vacation. We all had a great time and got to spend lots of time with each other while my oldest was on Christmas break.

You don't know how much your daily routine is thrown off kilter until you have people over, just the small stuff that you and your wife do and don't really think about. From when you get up to when you make dinner. Does anyone else take a deep breath after a long visit from family?

We entertain a long-stay guest a couple times a year, it's great but I know exactly the feeling of "getting back to normal".

We converted our house from 3 bedrooms to 1 bedroom; sleep on the couch or I'll get you a room at the motel.

Nice touch Ric! I just had to move my oldest son and his wife back in my house because they starved out at their latest grand adventure in rural Nebraska. They try to be quiet, but it's not the same.

We just spent 2 weeks with my folks . I suffer from being an 8hr sleeper and appearently my sleep/ wake cycle is set in granite after 50yr at 38-41° north and 114-117° west . The 2 hr difference wasn't a big deal in the evenings but mind and body weren't big on what they thought were 10-4, instead of the 9-5 . Dad only sleeps about 5 hr on a long night ...... So of course the were chomping to go before I got the shower warm . I think it may have bothered them the last couple of nights when I went to bed early also .
It seems that sometimes being the guest is a hard as being the host .

My daughter came for a long week at Christmas. My wife would attend me saying it but I'm glad she went back to her home and apt. I have my privacy back and I have a wife again. When the kid is here she has a mom and I have nothing.

This is my wife when her mom comes in, I obviously have to work and normally see my girls 5 hours a day. Her mom comes in and they go do stuff, for 3 weeks i saw my babies for an hour or so a day. So like you, I lost my wife and kids temporarily. Poor me I know, but it is a culture shock for a while.

Grown son has new job in the KS area. He came for Thanksgiving, before the new job started.
We fly the MiL here from Japan for a couple of months each year to include Christmas. Although I couldn't ask for a better MiL, Mrs. smokeywolf is stressed while her mother is here.
Neighborhood noises have come to irritate me, but I like a lively household.

When I had 5 at home, a colleague - who had two big strapping boys - would often ask me, exasperated as I would talk about buying milk 4-5 gals at a grocery store visit, at least twice a week!, what my grocery bill was. My answer was always the same! Don't know, don't/can't care, and HAVE to spend it or they will eat me (and 2-3 were bigger than me!)! Gotta feed the mouths! Was what it was!

We had 6 girls between the two of us, just one at home now and she just finished her B.A. IOW, she will be on her way shortly. It is already pretty quiet here, and the silence will be deafening when she is gone.

Well, it is a good state to live in, although I am looking at a couple of inches of fresh snow
out the window this AM. That may be a bit of a shock for a Cali young man.

Bill, I just realized that I goofed and typed KS in my post when I meant to type KC. He's in Kansas City, MO area.

Ok, close to me, but I am not nearly the fan of the MO side as I am of the KS side. Parts of the city are
pretty mean. There are nice suburbs on the north side in MO, and south and west here in KS, too.
Really cold today, 13F a little while ago, 3" of snow, but supposed to warm up into 50s by Tues, so
it will all be gone. MO just got Constitutional Carry and removed the old requirement to get a permit to
purchase a handgun. The second one is the entire reason that I chose the KS side when I moved here
more than 35 yrs ago. Never had asked for a special permit to buy a gun, wasn't about to start if I had
a choice. NICS came in later, but CCW short circuits that.
