Got to the range today !

As the title says I got to the range today despite 14 inches of snow.
After hoofing it down the hundred yards in the snow banks I managed to huff and puff my way back.
I started laughing when I looked through the scope because what I saw looked like a flock of targets.
Trying to discern which target to shoot was fairly difficult but I settled on focusing on the darkest one, as you can see there are two distinct groups 1 with 7 rounds in it and one with three so much for Old Men ,snow and not so good eyes, but at least I was happy with getting some range time and fairly decent results.
This was shot with my Rock Island o3, High Standard four grove barrel and 20x scope.

35 ...Thanks.
I try not to be a flock shooter.
Iron sights are my thing.
Jury is still out on the scope thing with my
Eyes.

Yea you and JW have me wanting a receiver sight for my .308. I know about the flock thing, with my eyes and irons i shoot at the one in the middle lol. I think the receiver will be much better. That and a pair of glasses as i broke mine about 12 years ago and haven't replaced them.

I think you rifle likes that Reloader 7! Nice shooting!
I sort of missed the part about the 20X scope at first was wondering how you could see that little bull in a receiver sight;)

Jim I have been looking for a replacement for 2400.
I have been trying IMR & H 4198, as well as Reloader 7.

All three seem to work REALLY well with certain bullets,
21.7 grs of RX7 with the NOE 311332 and #315 are now my go to
loadings for comparing how other bullets shoot.

The two Lees Lee 312 155 2R and Lee160TL obviously also like it.

With the 315 I expect 11/16ths - 3/4" @ 100 yds without really trying hard.

So far with my limited experience with scopes I find I can get about the same results if not better
with less magnification and bigger targets.

I prefer fixed power scopes but this one is 6.5-20x and allows me to play with the power to target size
ratio and eye condition, it is an interesting equation.

Given the right target size I can shoot the same groups with a 6x,10x,12x, or 20x,
18x seems to be about the best so far.

Best fixed so far is a Weaver t16 with the target stickers Ben uses, but I out line them with a black magic marker for better
definition.

35 and JW...All this said I sill get the same groups with the Lyman 48's and 17a's and my eyes are not tired at the end of a shooting session.
Given the right light conditions of course.

Try a T-36 and those stickers at 100 yards. It's irritating when you peer at them through the scope and realize half of them aren't printed perfectly concentric with the cut circle you peel them out of, so you have to decide if you want to center the crosshairs in the middle of the round sticker or superimpose them on the vertical/horizontal lines on the sticker which are slightly off. Heaven forbid you get the sticker a little bit canted, then you want to roll the rifle in the bags to match and that screws up the POI.

Ian...done that
But with a TWIST;), I usually put the stickers on before I place the target on the back stop.
Only to find that the target isn"t level.
That and a decent mirage...whew.

So I will never be an F Class star, but using my 3/8" center circle @ 100 yds I figure if I can just keep it in the center I will be shooting about 3/4" groups with a good load.
Sometimes better!
