H&R 444 Handi Rifle Question

Not bad with cast bullets. It will take the top of a alligators head completely off at 30 yards!

Don't sound like a terrible price but, does sound painful on the shoulder. Lightweight & hard kickin is a tough combo.

My Marlin 444 can be nasty. Might be the stock design. Beats me far worse than my Marlin 45-70.

The wood "straight" Handi stocks beat my cheek more than anything. Some of the plastic ones are better, some not so good. The comb is at a high angle and the buttstock's drop and butt angle are all wrong for me. When I shoot even my .45 Colt with heavy bullets I get a red cheek and the butt always drops out of the pocket of my shoulder during recoil.

$250 is the going price for any centerfire Handi around here: i've recently seen a .308, '06 and a 45-70 all exactly $250. The '06 has a laminated stock which is tempting and, btw, makes it heavier to absorb some recoil. i shoot entirely cast so that's seldom a problem.
