I have NO idea why I kinda want one but, I do. Guess I like punishment?

Anyone here have experience with the hp carbines?

Saw a guy shooting one in 45 ACP once. Looked like it didn't shoot too bad. I was mostly interested in the fact that he shot 100 factory rounds and let me have the brass.
A 9 mm would make more sense to me, more brass is available and those sure look like an ammo eating gun.

If you get one I gotta meet you at the range and give it a go.

I recently bought a High Point in 40 S&W. Loding the RCBS 40-180 cowboy bullet. About 300 rounds so fsr and what amazes me it has never failed to feed so far. Keeping my fingers crossed.

I have one in 9mm.
my only complaint is the magazine.
it only holds 10 rounds.
but it is accurate, and it eats anything I have tried in it.
it pretty much gets all my oopsies, junk rounds, and anything that will choke all the other 9's.

I'm amazed nobody makes a 20-30 round mag for them. Talk about tons of fun and a way to eat some ammo. Imagine a couple kids, some clays, and a couple hundred rounds. OK, maybe a thousand rounds.

someone has a mag that fits but it voids the hi-point warranty.
I have seen guns that were warped/melted from a house fire be replaced by hi-point.
so if the magazine replacement voids their warranty they must do something bad to the gun.

I can't imagine buying one in .380. 9mm makes the most sense for the majority of people unless you have buckets of free .45 or .40 brass, a reliable progressive ammo plant, and a couple of six-cavity moulds.

I have 1 in 45. It only holds 9.... and the regular pistol mags won't work .

It is fun to shoot and not the least bit fussy about bullets . Without any loads other than what was on hand for a 1917 it hit on a 18x12 plate 4/10 .

I have the 9mm. It shoots great. As fiver said, the drawback is the 10 round mag. I tried the dreaded 15 round aftermarket but could not get it to work. I sure wish somebody would make a high cap that would.

Capacity would be the drawback for me regardless of cal. In a large number of 9mm,
in pistols, the capacity would often double the capacity of the Hi Point. Would be
a fun to own weapon I admit regardless of cal.

Thanks for the input fellas.

I think I'm going to pull the trigger on this one soon. I only have one 380 & oodles of 380 brass. Yeah we use the lnl ap-feeding it will not be a problem.

I thought about a 9 but, the glock mag ar9 is in the works & I figured a sub 2k that takes glock mags would be an ideal solution for a second carbine 9 plinker. Once the 9mm throat reamer shows we should be able to make them all work together.

My only experience with hi-point is a friend's 40 that didn't function well on his mystery reloads his buddy gave him. I just stood way back and watched on that one, declining to shoot it based on the ammo. It never blew up but, didn't function properly either.

The second was at frontsight. A fellow in the class had one. They did kinda point it out to all the range officers in front of everyone-like- "HI-POINT ON THE RANGE" while pointing down at the poor young fellow. They also promptly showed him where the bandages were. By the end of the class he had every finger bandaged up. Based on those 2 experiences I've not payed any attention to their handguns.

My wife is threatening to holler HI-POINT ON THE RANGE each time I take it out if I get one. It will be about the least excited to get gun purchase ever for her.

The 380 should be interesting one way or another. The low cap mags are a definite drawback. Maybe I can make some hi caps for it.

Not real excited about a zamac bolt & such but, they seem to get a good review for the pricepoint. Another deciding factor for me is their customer service as, fiver mentioned. I've read of them replacing a squib blown gun even though they had no liability to do so. That's how I run my business & how I like to be treated.

You and Paul are more than welcome to shoot anything I have. Heck I'd let you borrow this one lol.

I have one in 9mm. Shoots jacketed ammo great and is accurate. I like the sights. For cast, it likes them big or you will have to spend some time cleaning the barrel. I don't like the 10 round limit but it is fun to shoot.

I fondled the 380 & 9mm versions today. It's a real struggle buying the 380 over a 9 but, I think I'm gonna get it within a week or two when I have time to stop down there with the cash & do the paper work.

It has nice ergonomics. The trigger is better than I expected. The sights are OK, the rear peep would need drilled a bit bigger for my eyes. All in all much better product than their handguns I'd say.

If they had inexpensive hi caps I'd probably buy 1 of each caliber.

9mm or .45 seems to be a viable home defense carbine, much better indexing than
a handgun for most folks, and much more reasonable noise level and flash indoors
with longer bbl.

Not sure I see the point of the .380 in this platform. .380, IMO, is just what the Europeans
call it "9mm Kurz" or "9mm Short", of value in tiny, light CCW pistols. Seems like recoil and noise
with the 9mm Para should be good with the comparatively heavy carbine and giving up even more
power for no apparent gain wouldn't seem a good trade-off.

BUT - whatever turns your crank, my only quibble is the cartridge. Word is that they are
reliable and pretty accurate.

Everyone needs at least one. I have found the 9mm a great range player and am glad I am limited to my 4 10 round mags. Otherwize I could not kee up the loading process to keep it fed. I can break clay pigeons at 100 yards regularly with the iron sights and find it easy to maintain as it doesn't mind being dirty. I clean after a couple thousand rounds which is a pita to break down.

Mine shoots lead just fine....in fact it shoots everything just fine. I would like to add the 45acp but do not understand the .380 either.
