This looks like it could be a lot of fun.

You can easily match the ballistics with a Marlin 45-70. Cases are cheaper too. And tons of load data out there. I mean come on, it's a 45-70! A guy who has a 30-06, 45 ACP, and 45-70 has his bases covered.

That is a neat concept rifle but I personally don't see a place in my safe for it.

if I had a pig within 500 miles of me this would be on my list real quick like.
a nice 2x7 scope with a large exit would make this a 100yd 'anything needing shot' rifle.
it would also make a great, 'pine tree side of the mountain' Elk rifle.
I could see a 300gr hollow point working on 4oz ground squirrels too but they quit charging the shooter a few years back.

That'd be a "Black gun" caliber for me, if persued.

I'd lean more toward the 45 raptor myself but, do much enjoy hearing of trials with these.

I bet that snout is much appreciated in one of these rifles.
they are light and handy though, I really like the stock configuration on the 300 BO Ruger I bought the wife.
it is just comfortable to shoot and comes up easily.

I may re-think this. I have been checking into the 450BM and Hornady is the only one making dies and they are $70ish. I am too tight to pay that for dies but I will give it a little more thought. I just keep thinking how much fun it would be with a big old cast bullet load.

Brass runs a buck a case too.

That brake is a big plus on a lightweight rifle like that. Wouldn't want to shoot next to it at the range but being behind it I would be happier.

The Raptor uses 308 brass and 460 S&W dies , bullets and load data . Loads out at 2.3-2.5 in and will hit 45-70 numbers in a 16" bolt gun .

I have 200,250,260,265 and 350 gr moulds for mine . As soon as I get sights on it I'll stretch its legs a little . I'm thinking that 350 around 1600 will make me happy in spite of knowing that there is straight data for 250-265 gr that will go well over 2600.

The more i look at the Ruger Americans, the more they grow on me.

That one would definitely be a light weight power house hunting rifle.
