Just got this yesterday, thinking of .358 Win again

I happened up on this one yesterday. There were 2 of them and one guy was checking out with one and I got the other one. I got it already thinking of another re-bore to .358 Win. I got to thinking last night with 2 .358's already in the safe (Mossberg Patriot & Remington 760) I may leave this one as a .308.

No, I already have a Savage lefty that I put a threaded, sighted, 20" threaded bull .308 barrel on. I just know how much fun it is to shoot powder-puff cast loads with a can screwed on the muzzle ;).

I bought a zastava Mauser in .308 last year with a ,358 re bore in mind.
I already had a 35 whelen. So I wound up keeping this one as is in .308.

After shooting it, I decided it was nice to get more bullets per pound of lead plus no recoil to speak of and super accurate to boot.....decicions decisions.

35 shooter it sounds like you need to keep that one as is and buy another one to convert. See...........simple solution!

I will also keep mine 308 for a while. I have heard from several other shooters in this area that the Ruger Americans are generally good shooters.

Malcolm,

If you decide to rebore that barrel, JES has a minimum diameter on the outside of the barrel that he has to have for a successful rebore to .358 Win.

At one time I knew that number, but time has changed that.................

Give him a call if there is any doubt about there being enough " meat " in that barrel for a rebore.
