We got bad weather coming in for a few days so I thought I would push it and try for today....I almost beat the rain/snow.....40 deg. 16knt wind right on the back...got 10 off before it opened up...

Now I am going to try driving with my eyes closed....or maybe not ...I think someone said you can only get lucky once a day..

We were doing a major preservation job 'bout 20 or so years ago....

Down the st from Thomas Jefferson Poplar Forest.It pre dated that nonsense by 25 years or so...

We had 1000 acres basically as our personal hunting fields.So got one of my varmint rigs propped up on a hay bail,sights set on a G-hog at 200 yds.

I turn to talk chit to one of the guys working for me.....touched the trigger....BLAM...

Oooops,rifle went off....drilled that fat hog dead center.

Seriously though besides the shift to the right did you guys notice the change in elevation from the first set up..??
My holding different on the second group...one has to be consistant...that would have made a 10 round group larger ...by alot..

It's 1 1/2" high @100...CB,Lee 130 7mm with 4198 right around 2000 fps.Hey,I got all afternoon.Brought the loopy 1-4 down a few clicks....

OK...now we're talkin,haha .I'm at 1/2" high @100.

Need to check loading notes but,this last bump in powder must've hit a little bad juju on brrl tune.Just sayin,there's a noticed drop in acc.BUT,1" groups at 100 will get it done tomorrow.

How fast,can you run a mag full of,whatever it is you intend to hunt with,and keep'm in the bttm of a coke can at 100?I'm at the limits of working a 700 bolt...what say you?

I don't think it would be a matter of working the bolt fast as much as target acquisition.....a low power hunting scope of around 2,5x would be no different than iron sights...I forgot what the record was but it's amazing..try Googling it..nice outfit BTW..Dan

My EDC is a SA Rem 700...Loopy 1-4x20.

It's carried behind the seat,in a open rifle case.My goal,is to casually open the truck door,hit a coke can @75 yds as quick as the rig is capable of....just sayin,I'll take bets on it happening.

The last three,went into a nice,sub 3/4" group.Gotta love Lee moulds.The deal is set,texted my friend....7-08 killing,EDC is zero'd...headed out in the a.m.

Big Coyote in the area has so far stayed out of my scope/sighting.Have not called once.He's not getting a free education from me.

The guy who owns the property is a "medium" ,whatever that means?...gun collector.He brings out handguns for me to shoot,sight in.He's got money and brings more factory ammo on one day to burn up than,I've bought/seen in 10 years.Sayin,I'd always "heard" of these strange folks of non handloaders.....but always thought it was like Bigfoot?But I have definitely seen one,...haven't seen bigfoot yet.Well maybe my B.I.L.....he's from Fla.But at least he reloads?

So,struck out on the vermin hunting but,besides shooting a bunch of safe queen revolvers....Felt really good handing the guy my 7-08.Set the scope on 2.Showed him the CB load......he shot a mag full @20 yds,offhand at drink cans.He was grinning from ear to ear.Never shot a "reduced" load out of a rifle.Didn't bore him with the loading details,prolly running around 2100 or so...and will tear a can up @100.So it was neat letting a new guy in on CBs.

He has an old Winchester 30-30 with irons.I told him that,with a 1600fps CB, is what he should be carrying around on the fancy atv thing instead of handguns loaded w/magnums.
