Lee 6 Cavity 452-230TC

I'm thinking about getting my first Lee six cavity mold to use in my 45 ACP carbine and pistol. I'm thinking about going with the 452-230 gr. TC mold as I think the design will feed well in both carbine and pistol. I will be powder coating these bullets so it doesn't make much difference if it's the tumble lube design or the standard grease groove version. Do any of you shoot this bullet and have any Pros or Cons as to which version might be best.

Thanks

Great bullet. I don’t shoot many these days as I use a 200 swc but the 230 TC Lee is a very good bullet.
Mine is the traditional groove. Not sure that matters with PC?

Just started with that one last week. Having some trouble but not mold or design related. Got a big thread going on it. I really like the bullet and the mold works fine. Feeds with no trouble in my throated 1911. I’m just waiting on a different crimp die before continuing with it. Need to empty some more cases as well

The Lee 230TC with lube grooves has been great for me in various 1911's and XDm, and my 45 ACP carbine.. I have read somewhere that I don't recall, that there is a difference between the TL and conventional design, other than the obvious lube provisions, but don't recall what that difference was.

Buy the TL version is my advice, and I have both versions in both 2 and 6 cavity blocks.

I have that Lee mold, and used it for some "hot" 45 Super loads - middle row:

Well I think I found a deal on a Lee 6 cavity 452-230 gr. TC mold in the tumble lube version that came with a set of handles as a package deal both NIB for $60 shipped so I bought and received them late last week. Yesterday it was in the Mid 60s outside till around noon so I warmed up the mold and pot and cast three full 20 lb. pots of lead.

Two full pots were dedicated to the new 45 ACP mold while the other was for casting some 30 XCB bullets for my 30-06. The mold worked perfectly and after about 5 castings I was dumping all good bullets with only a few culls. I ended up with over 500+ bullets and spent the afternoon powder coating them. Today I will run them all through the sizer and load up some test loads using a variety of powders I have on hand.
