I loaded 50 red ea of both of these ctgs this a.m. Weighed each powder charge, and used 26 gr of 2400 for both ctgs and both with dac fill. Loaded 375H&H with 270 gr. NOE. That is a super looking bullet! The 4 cav mold will empty a 20 pound pot pretty quiqk. It shoots well (2MOA or less) with every thing I have tried so far behind it. Loaded the 45-70 with the old 335 Gould HP (Brads Mold). Haven't shot that load in a long time, but my records show that I was getting 3MOA or less the last time I shot. Killed the last 2 deer with the 375 H&H but with 375449HP. One at about 100 yds, the other at about 35-40 yds. With the 45-70 Have never killed anything but paper and one Texas Bore (a bang flop, 4 legs in the air kill at 45 yds), so maybe will try it on deer thisyear. There is something sort of nostalgic about loading these two ctgs, both of which have a long run history. Both rifles are #1 Rugers bought way back when. The 375 H&H sports a 3X Lyman, the 45-70 a 2x6 B&L, both are handy carry rifles.

Classics indeed! Come on down, the weather is cooling off and we have plenty more pigs where that one came from.

Pig hunt at Ian's? I'm in.
I have a few rifles that would love to be bloodied.
