Looking for help working on a Savage 340

I know they are ugly, just an entry level rifle. But I still like mine.
I am toying with the idea of pulling the barrel sending it to Jess and having him drill it out to 35 - 30/30.
I have rebareled 1 Axis so I am aware of head spacing the savage way. What I need to know is do the old savages mount to the actions like the newer ones?

You don't need to pull the barrel to send it to JES, I suspect he would like to have it all. Over the years I've seen him list a couple of 340s on GunBroker; I do remember a 35-30/30 but the one that really caught my attention was a 38-55 Win. It caught the attention of others and just got a little pricey for me.
