M1 Carbines at Midway

At Aero-Marine Supply in Birmingham, AL in 1964 there was a 25 foot long rack with M-1 rifles ( $49.99 ) on one side of the rack and M-1 Carbines ( $ 29.99) on the backside of the rack. I doubt that I had $3.00 in my pocket.

I had the same problem, but gas was $.25 a gallon. A buddy and I'd chip in a quarter each and cruise for Friday night chicks.

Being very familiar with Midway's latest price gouging episodes I predict prices will be very over-inflated.
Gas wars in Ohio in 1963, gas was $.229 a gallon that summer. Lots of cruising looking for girls that summer. I had $.45 an hour on my first non-farm job and thought I was rich.

The last Woolworths I can remember being in was in Delray Florida early 1980's. They always had a couple of racks of re-imported military arms. There were invariably some M1 Carbines. I always liked the M1 Carbines, consider them basically a big 10/22.
