New gizmo , BP cap tool.

It all started out so innocently with a few plastic cases and my grandfather's Pacific 12ga press and Ohause M5 ..........
Then I got a RCBS Partner kit to load a fussy 06' and some 9mm .......
I don't want to price a replacement of the money saving tools ....

I ordered out a cap making tool several months ago when caps for the hungry cap and balls and ML were still $8/100 compared to the peak price of $42/1000 for #41s .
It seems to work easy enough , straight out of the package it took about an hour and half to recycle 2 soda cans into about 140 caps . The 2nd can took about 20 minutes having already found most of the wrong cut up the can and feed the tool. Those with a little arthritis in the wrists will definitely want suggested soft mallet over the gentle bump . Those that make gas checks will find the tool quite familiar I suspect.

I won't at this time brave the priming compounds . The idea of dropping the measure and losing an hour or more of set up as a best case suggests I need a better lab area .
The touted German made toy caps and a "dash" of FFFFG is sufficient thrill seeking at this point . These should do the job for the recreational shooting and slaying of the dreaded pop can.

More to come as I figure out more of the assembly .IMG_20170112_144116395.jpg

Interesting topic, hopefully after caps and time to completion it is still worthwhile to do in quantity. After them being out of stock everywhere for so long, I picked up a couple tins of CCI #11 for just under $8 each and just about choked.

Been considering the cap dies from the feller over on cb. May still do it to feed a junker 45 cal when it's done.

Careful though, the teeth on the die looks like it could hurt much more than depriming your thumb though.

It is more about self reliance than beating the system . The tool is $44 , I think the roll caps were about $2.50 for 500 shots so at 600 successful shots it is pretty much paid for .
The BP costs me $12 / lb now but the next purchase of parts will be less expensive .

There are several folks making these tools .
This tool came from the out fit making the rim fire reloading kit for 22LR .
The guys on Gunslingers gulch have tried at least 5 counting this one different tools including the original tap a cap . They seem to have about the same durability , functionality and ease ,producing usable caps . There is a guy there also that is working out a press mounted tool at least I think that's where I saw it.
