New mold

....I do not know what the Lee 6-Cav. plates are made from, I don't believe steel but seem to work from what I have seen....
All the LEE 6C srue plates I have laid my hands on have been aluminum. I've never been fond of that idea, but the I've never had a problem with one either. I HAVE had problems with the (old style) 2C steel sprue plates.

I had a couple LEE moulds on which the sprue plates would warp occasionally, even though they had not been over-heated. No mallet - just a gloved hand to open/cut the sprue. Those, I had to lap, or bend AND lap. I eventually junked those two moulds because the alignment began to get touchy. I DID get a lot of bullets out of them over the years, but I also had to work on them from time to time to keep them viable.

I have a 6c with a steel plate (K-D tools ?) with a new handle which was weird as I'd won it as a door prize and had a home in mind for it just before the sintered cam handle gave up on a different mould . I guess it doesn't matter how it works out as long as it does .

The steel holds heat better and took some of the 1 heavy , 3 standard , 2 light thing out of that particular mould and of course I'll wear out the mould and re-home the plate at least once .
