I like it now but earlier today I was ready to throw it away! It turns out when I oiled the pins I used too much oil and it wicked into the cavities.

Casting with a brass mold is a little different from iron and this is my first brass mold. Once I got a rhythm going I cast these in about 45 minutes.43B2AE2A-E12F-4C42-85C5-D6FF59A2C77F.jpeg

Looking good. :) How long did it take to get the mold? My last one was over two years in the coming. Gave up on Miha but so do love his molds.

Hmm. That looks VERY familiar. I have one just like it from BRP, two cavity with one modded to HP. 45 2.1 designed it for 357Maximum (not the caliber) for his .35 Remington 336. It is the largest possible bullet to be able to cycle through the action and not put the gas check into the powder space. Now you know "the rest of the story".

After about half a dozen short casting sessions it will really come into its own. Be sure and keep the vent lines cleaned, that's really important to getting good fillout around the bands and for not trapping big void bubbles right at the bottom of the lube groove.

Longer nose, subtly tapered nose, much deeper/steeper lube groove, but close.
