Just made some brass for a highwall i picked up. Took a little bit and I got some cases fire formed.Odd ball looking little case. It is throated for long bullets And i'm able to breech seat a couple of my plain base designs which i'm excited about.
barrel is a green mountain and twist 1-10

Looks like I misspelled oddball on my post title and I can't edit it. (I can. :))

a guy I shot Schuetzen with Ron Augustine, had one built on a No.1 Ruger, he called it a 30 Herrett Long Neck, he shot it very well, breech seated, bullet was by Jerry Barnett

Didn't Wayne Schwartz also make a 30 Schwartz? I'm not sure if it was bottleneck or tapered case

Thanks I had heard of the long neck version but didn't know where it came from. I may still have my barnett 30 I don't know.

the Schwartz was sort of like a really short 32-40 looking case

I did a better job of fitting brass.Chamber length is 1.85 .Throat is pretty long.Shown is a. 309 base stepped (tapered ) 190g bullet seated to engage rifling.

went and shot some off the truck hood to fireform.I used a 195g Tapered plainbase with 6g Unique. After I got a zero I shot three groups. Nothing stellar, but its a start.

I have a No3 Ruger chambered in a wildcat , by Larry Thompson, I call it a 32Thom, breech seat only, case mouth is .321 dia. straight for 1" long, on a 32-4- case, 13.5 grains of WW680, or 12 grains of Bluedot, AA#7, HS-7, 1" long bullet, sometimes unbelievable groups at 100 yds, at 200yds , I don't have the concentration for it anymore, best I ever shot in a match, was 248 8c, twice, a 200yd 4 shot group .340, 5th shot went 2.3 inches to the left, I kept the target to remind me not to BS when you are going for record

That sounds like about every match I've been in lately. That's why I've gone to the Military Cast Bullet matches with issue sight Class .My expectations are low.

I took it out to get initial load data. The 311403 Pope with the base sized to .309 did ok(attached targets). The Hoch base band style with .308 band didn't do well enough to take pictures.
11.5g 4227 was a bit under 1300 the 175g bullets.
the rifle operated well and I'm looking forward to spending more time with it.

I ran through some fixed ammo gascheck loads to form more cases.Again not " one ragged hole" but it's looking like it has some potential.Neither bullet was a perfect fit in the throat so there is more work to do in that area.

I think i'm pretty close to where I need to be with a load. I broke out the classic NEI 47B(190g flat point GC, short body long bore ride nose.)
The bullet was designed by a fellow that lived in my town in the 1990's. For quite a few years that bullet held the smallest 5 shot group(.214 IIRC) in the Cast Bullet Association Heavy Class.

SAECO 315 didn't do too bad either.
