Oklahoma time! And Dallas for the Eclipse . . .

We looked at Silver City as a possible place to "last time move". But some "anti-gun" thing popped up and NM was wrote off.
Oklahoma was tied for 1st place with AZ. What rolled us farther west was where our family was living. 3 hour drive to son's house and 3 hours to my sister sure beats 10 hours by a long shot.
The real big OK lure is still the twice a year show in Tulsa ! Last time I was there I spent the whole day on the "Antique" floor level...

For a while, gossip (never saw irrefutable data) was that NM had a rather high incidence of "asset forfeitures" resulting from traffic stops, and a large-ish percentage of vehicles stopped had out-of-state plates.
I remember back in the 80s when a $10 or $20 would make problems go away, at least in trucking. Then the feds took an interest and busted a bunch of them. I never liked bribery, but you did what you had to to get by.

LOL! Oh yes, but there is not a single streetsweeper in the whole state of NM.

They have to use most of their DOT budget on snowplows.

I'm a backroads kind of driver but once I'm out of Texas and trying to make time....especially across NM which to me is mostly just a huge obstacle between me and SW Colorado....I hit the interstates or U.S. highways.

My son went to school for six years in Philadelphia. You can pull a 5th wheel from WA to PA in eleven days, averaging 300 miles a day. And never get on a four lane road except for the by-pass in York, PA. Wife and dogs and I love the journey. Then on the way back, hit the CBA Military Nationals in Iowa/South Dakoda.

The advantage of retirement is that you are not in a hurry. Going to die soon anyway, have fun.

Ok, just walked the entire Wanenmacher show in 5.5 hours! I will never walk again! Hahaha!

I did get a Remington rolling block in 43 Spanish with the Bayonet and a Schmidt Ruben K11 dated 1916.

(Sorry, had the wrong Swiss model number)
