Best of all you can do things in a certain way and never need to trim the trees.

Yes, with plums you can leave the fruit on the tree to dry naturally and they become self pruning,

I like the roadside wild plum thickets.
They are great for jelly and I don’t have to do anything except help the Boss pick them!

I had a Stanley Dwarf plum for years.... You just had to be quick harvesting them! If there are squirrels around they always know which ones are ripe! A constant fight! Unfortunately it scummed to a Canker disease & I never saw it coming! Had to cut it down and burn the tree as well as the stump! It was that contagious ( we live in the northeast so I'm not sure if it is area dependent)

why didn't you say sumthin.
i dig out at least a dozen baby plum starts every spring. [last year it was over 50]

maybe not next spring though, the neighbors trees got sawz all treated again this spring,, which will just leave me the root sprouts to deal with.
i got my own Plum trees to deal with i don't need hers too... no matter how good the jam is.
