I woulda tried pouring right from the pot, then spent the next two hours with a putty knife scraping it up and re-melting it.

angle iron is the way to go for sure.
it stacks in nice and tight and you can easily adjust your ingot weight by the length of the mold.
6"s long on 1-1/2" wide is about 1.5 lbs filled right to the rolled edge.

I smelt on the sheet metal top of my back yard fire pit. Turkey fryer is just two landscaping blocks high. No back issues here. Use it or lose it.

BTW, the reactive targets, in the background are for 22 caliber pistols only. Sand box, in front recovers some of the flattened bullets. Large target for the LCP II, smaller for the full size Rugers.

You have a heluva nice place there, John. If you have a junk pile or brush heap off in some corner of the property somewhere you're real good about never showing it in your pictures.

Haven't run across any junk piles on the acreage, yet. Occasionally, find a spent shotgun hull or a old style (removable pull tab) beer can, shot up with a 22 LR. Don't have many neighbors, that boarder my property. Hwy frontage is a different story. Fill up a couple of 40# dog food bags with trash that blows/tossed out of pickup trucks, every Spring.

hehe . . . . Ian, the winelover's estate is right out of the Better Homes & Garden magazine. 57 acres and no room for trash piles. :)
