Question about really old Saeco 4C moulds.

I just got in a very good looking Saeco 388 today. It looks odd to me, all of my Saeco's have the sprue bolt in the center of the edge of the sprue plate and are vented on both halves of the mould. This mould is only vented on 1 side, has a completely flat sprue plate that pivots and the end of the plate? Is this mould just ancient? Is this a normal configuration or did the guy screw up and mix 2 mould halves, he did have 2 388's forsale.saeco 388.jpg

At large, whereabouts unknown.
I've seen this style of SAECO mould before, I don't think it's really all that old. Perhaps Ric or Glen will be by soon with better information.

Could well be an original SAECO from before John Adams owned the company which of course is before Redding.

I don't have a lot of history with early moulds after Carl Cramer retired and sold out to SAECO.

I also have the #388 160 gr BB. The #382 150 gr FB shoots much better in my Marlin. Both my #388 and #382 are both from the John Adams time of SAECO and both are vented on both blocks.

I have confirmed that the halves got swapped befoe shipping... however this is the oldest Saeco I will own. All of mine are center pivot. No marking other than Saeco and 388 twice. This is on the vented half.

Sept. 10, 2021 Steve left us. You are missed.
I think I would try to swap for the mate with the other buyer.
