Well no idea why I did it but I bought this .....what ever it is. Something about it it just pulled me. Operation rescue begins! Gew.98 converted to K98 belive East German post war. Paid to much but I felt the desperately need yell for help and to be brought back to her true glory.

Looks like someone wanted to use up a can of white spray paint.

Brian,
Photos not the best Can't wait to see what is under that paint! Some of the marking may make it worth the price. You may have a good one if the bore is decent

I hope the bore isn't painted. I've heard of a dark bore but never a white one!

The paint should be easy to remove from the metal. The wood is a little tougher without a major sanding job, I would think?

A good Toluene /Acetone Paint remover would work great on both But they are getting harder & harder to find because everyone is going "Green"

Not sure on the barrel length.

Doing research the SS converted many Gew.98 to K98k specs like this. I was also told it look like a East German crown on the receiver could be a post war conversion. Either way not many Gew.98 to K98 conversions out there.

This is your friend.
Works great on the metal and wood.

Allow it to sit for 10 - 15 min.
Then hit it with a high pressure hose.

At large, whereabouts unknown.
Bbbbut thats a rare "Alpine" G98K SS Conversion, built on Hitlers personal orders! Judging by the SN, this should be the rifle he killed himself with.

Early retirement!

You might try odorless mineral spirits. Takes off or softens most cheap paints.
