....1971,matched pr of Bear take downs. One @45#,it's brethren @49#.These are my,million mile baby's.AKA tournament 3D bows.Got a little "money" shoot this weekend. So,imagine custom bow builder gets his game on WRT practice...

Now,forget the bows....

I'm practicing with my bow,but as an aside,I pick up the EDC,7-08 CB,Remington SPS..

3 shots,no foulers,50 yd berm,all went into one hole.This,with a 3 1/4# trigger,4x shotgun scope....just sayin

I was concentrating on my bow shooting, picked up the EDC and blasted it.It's all about the practice.

Should have added we have a Bear TD Hunter down here with us. The "A" limb is marked " Extra Heavy Weight Limb Use 50# Arrow". Both limbs are the same dark brown paint. The "Riser" is aluminum and green painted.

Just wanted to add,I dry fire practice about 10--20 minutes a day...uhh,that would be with the rifle du jour.Dry firing bows is on another plane, yes we do it but its 180* apart from trigger work....to wit,our bow testing is so left field that ya'll really don't need to go there, haha.BW

Interesting. I have an old Bear compound, bought it from a friend for $35, mint. No idea what
it is actually worth. Are they in demand?

I am just about what would be called "barely competent" with a bow. Never have used one of the
funny kind, just the old kind, not much different that what the Mongols conquered Asia with, except
materials technology. Have a bit of fun, never hunted with one.

I do always win a prize at the Renaissance Festival at the archery booth, but that never seemed too
hard to me. Takes me one payout to figure out their screwy little bows and then the next payout is
for the prize. The wife thinks it is "not fair", since I always get the prize, so I quit doing it.

Bill, there's a term for it and it escapes....

It's when guys take compound handles and put recurve/longbow limbs on them.A hybrid. We were doing it back in the late 60's and 70's.It's kinda neat that since the interweeb there's a whole new crop of shooters....they think they invented it.It's all good.

So,find out what the youngins call these things...measure the length of your riser, and it "may" have a mkt.

Our shop is a little different from most.We do prototyping....or outlaw or hotrods. Some don't like it,because we're not status quo.Whatever.....

Was shooting today.Still got my dryfire practice in with the 700 though.Wrapped several layers of Teflon tape around the bolt shroud threads. It really DOES make a difference in the solid'ness of the FP stroke/smack.There's some minor work that's still to be done inside the bolt.Stock FP spring needs some delrin "shock buffs" at each end....also need to think about bushing the hole. And a few more tweeks on the cheapy stock.

It's been good to shoot my baby's (recurves),whilst thinking about the rifles,on a cerebral level. The dry fire practice has really helped too.Have a great weekend,BW.

Haha.
Bear compounds;either above post about the riser or below.

Recurve;check eBay...it's real time data.If it's mint,conceivable to fetch a cpl hundred.Bear collector's are rabid.....I "ain't" one.We're 2%ers that hotrod them GASP,and campaign'm.In the hunting fields and fewer yet on tournament trail....usually 3D.The "new" Bears are seen a little more.

Yep it is the weather or moon phase... Some days I would be far better off to shoot my 6 practice arrows just once. Other days just seem right.
