Veterans Day

Had a quiet veterans day today. Counted that half of the guys I used to celebrate with were either passed on, or have dementia. So wife and I and some friends went to a rib place for some B_B_Q and a couple of drinks. While I was leaving two guys from the 1980's and Desert Storm came up and thanked me, gave me a hug. Special day for me.

Posted elsewhere, my Day was AWESOME! My FIL hit Korea at the end of the conflict, I was in the Army '86-'97/never sent into harms way and never recalled... Not sure how ANY of THAT (didn't) happened! And son #5 is in 82nd, currently in Iraq. But got a golden easter egg and is getting GREAT training/cert/experience that will set him up for a VERY graceful and lucrative ETS in about 10 months.

My wifes grandfather and father were both in the Navy at the same time during WW2. The FIL lost two toes on his left foot as a gunner on a ship. I was in the Navy 76-79 as a Aviation Support Mechanic, got out for a short while then did two tours in the Army as an MP. Two of my half brothers were in the Army, and my oldest daughter and youngest son were both in the Army.
Many thanks to all that served in whatever capacity.
