I really did it this time. Messed around and cut the pad off of my middle finger on my left hand. I hope like heck the doc is wrong, she mentioned it may not grow back and have to do a damn skin graft.
Of all the stupid things too. I very seldom eat a big breakfast. Fresh farm eggs and sausage. Well the roll of sausage was frozen. Just going to cut a few slices off, wham it goes all the way through the roll and it slid off at an angle.
I have cut up hundreds of pounds of rolled meat this way. Danged if this don't rank right at the top of my stupid list.

I've had two grow back, both were more toward the tip than the pad, though. Fingerprint skin cells are remarkable at filling holes. My main concern would be about nerve end damage, that can be really troublesome even if minor.

Ouch. Hope it heals well. Finger tips are pretty important for tactile work.

Hope you heal up well. Accidents happen so quick.

Fingertip skin grafts can work miracles.
Years ago I sawed most of the flesh from four fingertips, all the way to the knuckles. I was sure they would have to amputate.
With skin grafts, the hand fully recovered, with full nerve function.

Yikes!

That doesn't sound enjoyable.

Best wishes for a graft free full feeling recovery.
