What doves?

Saturday I shot twice and got a pound of sliced roast beef. Monday I didn't even have a gun, mosquitos were working Belle (and me, too!) over so I took Belle out three times for two or so hundred yard walks through the farm. Today we walked into a cloud of mosquitos along the Sugar River. After a hundred yards, I had to put my hat on, but it only had a half face net, which was no where near enough... I dropped my pack and the seats in another 50 yards, no way were we going to sit. Pushed in another 200 yards on the path mowed through the sunflowers then we turned around.

I usually keep tabs on my Brittany, but this morning all that I was concerned with was the mosuitos on the way back to the car. Threw my folding chairs in the back, dropped my ruck, cased my gun, Belle crossed the drainage ditch and hopped into the car. I hit the A/C and we waited for the old man to stagger back.

Looks like we got a lot more rain this year... About the only DNR project that is a roaring success has been the mosquito hatchery, heavens knows the pheasant hatchery and habitat areas have failed. Reminds me of a Monty Python skit where a professional hunter was going out after mosquitos...
