Is 540 the same, "charge weight-wise", as 540MS ?

I spent a few hours searching my old manual. I do have an older manual (Speer) with 540MS data for shotguns, but couldn't find any correlating data for newer 540 in my many manuals. I did find some shotgun data for HS6 ...and it appears that the 540MS data was about 10% higher grains, but with different shells and wads spec'd (in a Hodgdon-winchester manual), I can't really bank on that.

I spent an hour searching the interwebs and found only a little, both bits of info were from the other forum, first:
"My memory isn't what it used to be, but I seem to remember reading (probably in the late 60's or early 70') that 540 MS was a double base powder and that some of the nitroglycerin precipitated out and would collect at the bottom of the can after sitting for a time. After some shotgun blow- ups Winchester discontinued 540 MS , reformulated it, and just called it 540. The common cure, was to simply shake up the can of 540 MS before using. Like I said, my memory isn't the best, but I do remember reading about some shotguns getting ruined and 540 MS sticks in my mind as the powder that caused the problem.
If it were me, I would try asking Winchester or researching the powder before using it.
Does anybody else remember Winchester having problems with this powder?"

I also cut n paste a section of burn rate chart compellation from the other forum (see 56, 57, 58)
