No apologies needed. We learn by asking. We have many leaned folks here with more experience.
I am happy to offer my opinions.

The need for a bullets hardness is at least three part.
1) Pressure of operation
2) Velocity your wanting
3) Use for projectile

There is other factors to consider namely powder coat. Because its still fairly new and now completely accepted with cast bullet circles. Somehow its less than worthy... Its my iwn opiniin this is simply cause of human nature. See casting is a fading art. Most folks who know and live it are gettin old. Older folks get set in the hows and whys if life and seldom venture to try something new. So there in lies powder costing on cast bullets. Few new folks to pave tge way and the respected established guys unwilling to try it means other who respect the "elders" also pupu it.
These "slick sided" bullets is also new thinking. I dont feel there will be substantial difference under say 1500 fps assuming tgat combined with low pressures. My own quandary is if higher cast pressures (say 30K +) Im thinking that this is where we will see any differences.

But we gave learned with proper powder coat one can use softer alloys and faster velocities. It allows for higher pressure and velocity before the gas check is advantageous.

So unless you want a solid, you can soften that alloy and be just fine.

But best learned by trying. No harm trying so I offer to try as you have and see if that works for your needs. Cause bottom line is thats what matters.

5744 was my favorite. But I also never needed top velocity. CW
Ok cool, I’ll have a top end, heavy duty load for it but I’ll develop softer loads too. I figured if I was gonna do the big guy, I was gonna do the gas check and have it spec’d for Linotype, let it be a heavy hitter, I’ll get other molds that are lighter that I won’t push as hard. But, have a showstopper round for my showstopper gun, been lusting after that mold. It’s a ridiculous mold and ridiculous gun, I know that, I’ve got reasonable Guns but wanted something crazy ha
