Anybody using the 315 in .30-30?

I've got a .30-30 bolt I'm wanting to try the 315 in. I've also got 8 lbs of 4756, and seeing some load listing for that weight bullet. Hoping to get in the 1300-1400 range. Anyone tried it?

Ben will be along shortly. I don’t know about 4756, but he’s used the Saeco 315 in 30-30.

I'm watching this thread, I have the NOE version but haven't had time to play with it. I bought it because Ben spoke so highly of it.

THJROW IT IN A 30-06SIZED .310/.311 WITH 17.8 GRAINS OF 2400 AND YOU WILL GET A NEW RESPECT FOR THAT 30-06,P.S. ONLY LUBE ABOUT 3 OF THE BOTTOM GROOVES THOUGH, IF'N IT'S A .308 TRY 16.9-17 GRAINS OF 2400

I loaded some light 30-30 Win. loads for my 10 yr. old grandson, Trevor.
Neck sized brass with 5.9 grs. of Promo with a plain base cast bullet .
Fired out of a Rem. Model 788.
Accurate " # 315 clone " plain base bullet, sized to .311.
Fairly accurate load, pleasant on the shoulder and ears.

The 30-30 is pretty forgiving.
Red Dot / Promo , B'Eye, Unique, Amer. Select, and
2400 are all great powders for the 30-30 with the SAECO # 315

Buying a mould because Ben speaks highly of it is a good way to go broke!

Ben has an addiction along with an ability to make almost any mould do well. Avoid him or risk bankruptcy.

Actually, that is not bad advice.

It's ok I enjoy it ,others aren't quite sure what to make of it..I think the bullets in the box are 315s
Well if just "OK"............. The for sale price should be pretty reasonable. I could find it in my heart to unburden you.

I think this is going to be a project this year. I have a half gallon of them cast and want to see what the old rifle will do. Thanks for all the replies.

Rally, Saeco #315 sized to .310" was the most accurate CB in my .30-30 Marlin #336, grouping about the same as Ben's in the pic he posted. None of the other highly recommended CB designs were nearly as accurate in that rifle as #315, the exception being Ly. #311466.

Wow Ben, that is a pretty clean 788! Most I've seen up here look like somebody used them for boat anchors. Looks like it shoots too.

Maven,
I'm using the RD 165 Dp in my Marlin levers. May try a few 315's when I load a few for the bolt gun.

I finally got out yesterday with the rifle, while checking traps. There was a small dead tree on the shoulder pushed out by a dozer doing the road project where I was parked. The target on the left was pinned to the tree at that angle it appears now. I'd changed the scope on the rifle after removing some metal from the side mount unit to allow the turret to fit correctly, so had to move the scope over 40 clicks to get it on paper!! Also powder is SR4756 not IMR, which was written in a hurry as I had a few tics crawling around on me I wanted off me. LOL Last six shots are on the target to the right. There was a slight breeze from the left, but I was in a small saddle, so shouldn't have made much difference at 40 yards. I'm thinking it shows some promise, and some time at the bench, instead of over the hood of the truck, may work out pretty good. I've fired 36 rounds through the rifle so far and is no sign of leading and still quite clean. May have found a rifle for this mould and 8 lbs. of SR 4756.
