It is so effective that both CBA and both Benchrest organizations outlaw lead shot in the bags!

When shooting a hunting rifle off the bags I use a Hart Accuracy Asset whenever possible. It simulates the profile of a BR stock.

The Hart Accuracy Asset will help the fore end of your sporter ride the bags more like a BR rifle. It will not help at the butt stock where the taper between the toe and grip is extreme compared to a BR gun which is flat/parallel to the ground. Do not use this device with anything that recoils enough to want to jump off of the bags. This is especially true if your front rest has provision to clamp/hold down the fore end.

Not without a mill. If he buys me the mill I want I will make him one.

I'm not complaining. I enjoy thread drift. Sometimes the information gleaned after a thread drifts is very much worth knowing. A state if nirvana is a good thing.

The problem of the angle at the bottom of a sporter's butt stock is not easily overcome. I've yet to come up with an entirely satisfactory solution. Do you have a specific question? Perhaps someone else here has had more success taming that beast.

I use A Caldwell Universal Deluxe rear bag. They say it is Nylon and leather I'm not sure about the leather being real, however.
It seems to work well for me but I don't know a lot…that's why I'm constantly checking this thread….now that we are talking about just shooting again ( & not the bull!):D

For precision shooting, my front rest is a Bald Eagle with windage adjustable top. Turn a knob and the top moves right/left. The bag that came with this rest is leather and screws to the rest top. It is somewhat adjustable for fore end width but works best for +/- 3" wide fore ends with flat bottoms. I also have a #3 cordura front bag that works well with BR rifles. My current rear bag is a Protektor leather bag with owl ears and 3/4" thick leather base around the perimeter. This bag does not rock (like a rocking chair). I use heavy bank sand from Sinclair Int'l. more later
