LGS carries a few 8 pounders. Not necessarily the flavor wanted. I'll use the LGS for single pound purchases and then make large purchases from online sellers. Got to realize that most customers of LGS that reload, use jacketed bullets so the powders they stock might not be cast bullet friendly. Is it normal for suppliers in your area to carry 8 pounders? Or do you have to order it? Like I said, I've never even seen an 8 lbs jug in person!
I shoot the 357 Mag and Max in carbines, so I'd probably not be able to resist that. Not my favorite, but it's a good powder for that. I stumbled onto 300MP during that last drought for less than H110 was BEFORE the drought and snatched it up. I've used very little of it and it will likely last me the rest of my life, but, yeah, if 2400 were available at that time, I'd have preferred it for the same reasons.I’ve been lucky enough to trip into some deals on 4 and 8 pounders. I just watch for sales. I know locally where an eight pounder of H110 is on sale for $179 right now. I don’t need it/want it, but if I owned a plethora of magnum revolvers, and didn’t already have an eight pounder of 2400(which is an immensely more versatile powder), I might jump on it.
Funny story,An 8# jug of powder costs more than some of my guns! In fact, it was almost as much as the last gun I bough (new) last spring.
Let's HOPE not!Funny story,
A friend called me from a gunshow last weekend. He said he was eyeing a minty older, blue 6" S&W Mod 57 (he didn't know I already had one). He said it was only $1500 (ONLY $1500!) and he was pretty sure he was gonna buy it, but wanted to know if I'd be interested in it, if he changed his mind about keeping it, after he got it home...He said that'd clinch the deal for him if I wanted it, cux it's such a good deal. He knows I tend to buy most any 41 mag gun. I said I wasn't interested, as I already had one. ANYWAY, not too many years back, I had a 8 3/8" Mod 57 that I sold for the price of a 8 lber.

Why start keeping on subject now. That stopped about 6 pages ago. Heck I started the thread and I have been drifting all over it myself. LOL>>> edit: Jeff, after re-reading this, it doesn't really have much to do with your comment, LOL

Now just to aquire some dies. And head up to Canton to get some large pistol primers.
Ps.
CW, I really like the micro checkering job on the bases. You aight to trade mark that. Micro checkered for better pressure dispersion.
If something does not pop up I can get a set of Lees down the street for 65 bucks.Thats from the Copper Oven liner I bake them on during Powder Coat. Your very welcome brother. Happy ta help!
