Corona virus precaution.

Pretty much my thoughts also. This whole thing is radically blown out of proportion. If not this year then the next or the year after that we will all pretty much have dealt with it, it ain't goin away. About the only differences I see in the regular flu is that this targets older people and is more severe with them.

Sept. 10, 2021 Steve left us. You are missed.
I'm convinced that my wife, myself and numerous others here locally had it last fall, well before it was recognized. Never went to a dr, felt pretty bad for a week or so. We are pretty healthy for our age, those with underlying issues are the ones that suffer more severe symptoms of course. I agree, just postponing the inevitable by all this lockdown.

No, they are the most vulnerable people; over 70, over weight, diabetic, bad lungs and high blood pressure. You can take your pick.

Add to that the fact that many (if not most) nursing homes (or facsimile) are "for profit businesses" and they pay their employees starvation wages. The low wages and often "part time" employment (to avoid extra benefits responsibility) means these workers must take on work at multiple work-sites, increasing the risk of transporting the virus between workplaces.

...pretty much everyone else just gets the virus and moves along with their day, or feels bad for a week...

You forgot a couple of phases. You can go on a ventilator for a couple of days or weeks. Or just die. This virus is killing or causing death in people that would otherwise have lived at least a few more years.

Yep, my daughter runs the lab at a local Methodist hospital. She says the really sick ones get put in a drug induced comma, on a ventilator and strapped into a special bed called a "rotoprone bed". (Google it)
You have to be face down to allow your lungs to work at maximum efficiency.
Not my idea of fun.

I haven't researched this much at all but I don't think it's one virus. It makes no sense to me how a weak person (or very young or very elderly) can survive without much drama while healthy people in the prime of life are dropping dead in ICU, and still others carry with no symptoms. It can't be the same exact virus. Seems to me like most people are getting a milder strain, and some (or one) strain kills its victims no matter who they are. I dunno, maybe it's been this way with all the crown flu variants over the years and the difference between individual immune systems is why the whole planted hasn't yet been divested of the human race.

A half million die every single year from the flu and nobody bats an eye. Tens of thousands die every year from drug over doses and not a peep from anyone. 75,000 have died from the china flu so far and they run the unemployment rate over 30%, shut everything down and completely destroy the economy. My biggest concern with the china flu isn't getting it and dying from it. My biggest concern is that the medicine solution they have for it is far worse than the disease.

My governor announced, today, that the state treasury has gone from a $21 billion surplus to a $54 billion deficit.
Two months of statewide house arrest, a total loss to the state of $75 billion, and this morning the supermarket was still without toilet paper.

The only difference with this virus and Influenza is that it is far more contagious! The only reason it is coming in check is because of sheltering in place orders. It will be interesting to see how the numbers rise as the restrictions are lifted ! If these number don't rise I "may believe" the folks that say it it is no worse then Influenza! Until then I'm not going to chance getting this one!

According to a local news article, 24% of those who have the Chinese flu, in my country, work in the vegetable fields. Now, I don't know what percentage they are of the county's population, but it is certain they aren't taking any precautions.

Thoroughly wash your lettuce, broccoli, artichokes, strawberries, celery . . .
Why do you think we get E-Coli out breaks in vegetables? They can't even practice good hygiene after using the Pot-Potties in the fields.

Arkansas has no shelter in place or lock down and hasn't. The majority of cases in Arkansas are in and around Little Rock but the state is one of the lower of the 50 for reported cases, without locking the state down. The County I live had 5 confirmed cases over 5 weeks ago for the entire county, all recovered and no new cases since. The restrictions that we had which are being eliminated now were restaurant inside dining and barber shops. That hit me hard, I need an omelet and a hair cut pretty bad about now.

Restaurant inside dining and barber shops will open here on Monday and it's sure about time for this bachelor that hates to cook. Have never made an omelet in my life but I was just about to give it a try. Which reminds me what they discovered about the run on toilet paper . . . . People have started eating their own cooking for the first time.

omlettes are about super simple just take them off the heat while they are still a little runny on top fold them over and wait about 30-45 seconds.
they will continue cooking off the heat. [it's called carryover in cooking parlance]

Oh, boy, I'll well aware of that! And don't forget salmonella.
My county produces about $3 billion worth of vegetables and $1 billion of fruit. The field workers take a dump and go back to picking. If one were to view the fields' un-sanitary conditions, one may be inclined to quit eating one's veggies.

Cooking has a parlance? Now who woulda ever guessed that?

But yes . . . Carryover, that's what the waitress does bringing it to your table.

You might also look at where the cowfields and sewage treatment plants are in relation to the water supply for the fields.

Same farms every year give us the same problems.

fix that lady's makeup - don't know about that but wish she talked slower. Did get a chuckle about if you got more than 2 homeschooled kids, work from home, have one computer - drinking is allowed before 10AM.
