It has been a long wait, but the rifle is finally home.
This is like Christmas in September ! !

A bit of background information on this one :

About 30 yrs. ago, I was involved in building this rifle.
I was paid to do the shaping, inletting, glass bedding , free floating of the barrel and final fitting, install a new adjustable trigger , adjust the trigger to a clean, crisp 2lbs. Install the recoil pad and all of the final stock finishing . The action is a custom commercial FN, 98 Mauser chambered in 7X57mm in a new Douglas stainless steel barrel . The rifle was test fired only. I put a lot of time and sweat into this one.

I did not do the checkering. It was farmed out to a very skilled
artisan and carried a very healthy price tag for the work , even for 30 yrs. ago.

Ben, you ought to be very proud of your excellent craftsmanship, but also being able to obtain it, after all those years.
Yep, it's beautiful, but not too beautiful to shoot.

Oh happy day! I know how proud you must be to have that beauty back, now in your possession.
That is some masterful work, the building and fitting of that rifle.

I hope you put a scope on it and enjoy shooting it, that fine rifle has waited a long, long time.

One handsome rifle in a very desirable caliber. I can see why you would be interested having it back under your roof.

Interesting you'd say that.
I don't know what the mathematical odds were against me on this deal, but I managed to beat the odds.
I'm thankful.

someone wanted a 7x57.
they went through all the trouble to buy a new FN action and a Douglas STAINLESS barrel in the early 90's.

it was still possible to buy a new in box Winchester featherweight in 7x57 [or 257 Roberts] back then for like 400 bucks.
i bet the barrel alone was close to that.
