I don't even wanna know the story behind burning cat piss. The Tulammo primers have a distinctly putrid smell right out of the package; it's along the lines of Pyrodex but a lot worse.

At the casting bench in the sky. RIP Bret.
I am far too well acquainted with the hot or burning cat pee smell. The only thing worse, to me anyway, is the smell of a pot or pan with a "bakelite" type handle that is burning. My late MIL was famous for setting things like that on fire.

Very little time-in-grade with Rooskikh ammo, and none with The Rodina's primers. I have smelled 7.62 x 54R, 7.62 x 38R, and 9 x 18 Makarov ammo from Russia when fired, and there was a slight sickly-putrid smell to the smoke. I no longer worry about that sort of thing, though--as predicted in 1981 by the neurologists that fixed my gunshot wound to the face and sinuses, at some point my sense of smell would diminish or disappear. That occurred about 6 years ago. This "Getting old" bit is not for sissy-la-las. I still have some sense of taste left, but it has diminished about 50%-80%, depending upon the food item.
