I love the .44 special

A very good day at the range yesterday. Tha antifreeze jug was hit on the 5th shot at 200 yards from a seated backrested position. The shotgun shell was hit twice out of 5 shots from a standing 2 handed hold at 25 yards. Load is a Miah clone of the H&G 503 acww, 8.0 of power pistol, Starline brass and CCI 300 primers. Don't get too excited about these hits, I missed a Kudu, a critter the size of a Mini Cooper, in South Africa the first time I shot at one.

As I get older, I find myself gravitating more towards the 44 Special. SA need not apply. Own two DA revolvers chambered in 44 SPL. The DAO 2.5" Bulldog is my carry piece, while bowhunting.

We have a couple. All 5 shot snubbies. Only one, the Ruger (too heavy) GP100 does not get carried about alot. But it does make a good kayak friend.
In my thinking the only thing better would be a .45 in the same type package. Are there any .45 5 shots out there ?
We also have a very inclined view for the .41"s.

Narrowed it down to ONE, which is a 5.5" post-Lipsey's production model, after Ruger replaced the original Lipsey's version under warranty. The production model came with no lock.

This is a most pleasurable gun to shoot and my all-time favorite, period.Shame they're out of production.

Like dummy, I dallied too long thinking about whether to snag a 4 5/8", stainless New Vaquero for $400 on Kentucky Gun a few years ago. Probably one of the worst gun-blunders I've ever made, if not THE worst.

smith and wesson makes a 6 shot 45 acp/auto rim.
the 625 comes with a 4 or 5" barrel
the 4" is pretty light and easy to carry around.

I wonder if S&W will expand the model 69 (5 shot) line ?
Easy enough to load the 44 mag brass down but I would not mind a real 44 Special & and a 41 Mag or a 45 Colt.

The Charter Pit Bull 45ACP rejection system does not impress me. I don’t have any familiarity with it, but… just looks like a gun could get tied up unless you carried a small rod. I’m hoping someone here has some experience with this ejection system Charter uses.
The 625 is a heavyweight and I love mine, trust me I will not let this one go like I foolishly did with a 5” 625 I had. The Charter Pit Bull is about half the weight of the 625. Granted very different breeds designed for different applications.
I’m in agreement with Missionary Michael, an L frame 5 shot 45 LC/ACP in 4” would be a nice middle ground.

Charter Pit Bull 2”. 22oz
Model 69 44M. 2 3/4”. 35oz
4 inch model. 38oz
Model 625 4”. 41oz
Model 29 4”. 44oz

The Smith L frame with a 4” bbl at 38 oz in 45LC/45ACP 5 shot would get my attention, with sights of course.

Ruger should bring back the Security Six in a 5 shot 45LC/45ACP. But…

Sorry, just don't see the reasoning behind revolvers chambered for semi-auto cartridges. The 44 Special will do everything a 45ACP will do, and then some, without the hassle of moon clips or other Rube Goldberg options. Same with the 357 Magnum, over the 9mm Luger chambered revolver. Now, I like the 9mm and have a half dozen semi's but a 9mm revolver isn't something I want/need.

Well I’m with you on the semi auto rimless cartridge in a revolver to a point. The 45 ACP is that point. They are great pistols, and I like moon clips.
But 9mm, 10mm, no thanks.
