At large, whereabouts unknown.
I got banned from a frugal preppers site for not posting enough. He limited my access to parts of the site and when I pm'd him about it, he banned me. It was an interesting site, but the owner was a nut case.
Me too. Small world.

I quit that other site about two years before discovering this one. Once that happened, I went back to the other site and started deleting my posts and anything related to me, but it was taking a lot of time so I e-mailed the owner and requested that he delete my name, password and posts. I checked back some time later and my posts were still there. Because of this thread, I signed in last night (name and password still operational), but couldn't find any of my posts. Either the owner deleted them or I didn't look too hard enough.

Unfortunately, I didn't "spam" his e-mail begging for a donation, though I will next year.

I love the term I read here....bunch of "Duck Hunters", lots of folks waiting to take a shot and you, and at least half of them are sky-busters...you know shoot a lot and hit nothing. It is their house and their rules....or lack of them.
I still check in there but never have posted much and find myself wandering less and less.

The environment which is cultivated and nurtured elsewhere seems to be just that^^^^^.

Every forum on which I started having to calculate all the potential pot-shots, totally irrelevant replies, and cultish groupiism, have been "banned" by ME. When you spend more time typing preemptive arguments against potential stupidity than getting to the point, it's not worth it any more. I've been on numerous forums where many, and sometimes just ONE who just has a bug up his butt (can I say "butt" here?) lie in wait for someone to post something just they can pick apart for the sake of pandering to the mentality of a clique of high-posters - toadies.

I don't visit forums (TWO these days) to solve the world's problems, or to rally with the largest herd (flock?) in order to bolster my personal sense of worth, but to engage in fellowship with people with similar interests regarding something FUN and INTERESTING, which may not solve world-hunger, but WILL contribute to one's own mental health. If you can't get that there, you have to go someplace else. Running out of places for many topics.

My concern/regret regarding "walking away" is that breeding grounds for idiotic behavior are becoming bigger and more and more common. We don't NEED more idiots. Still, I visit two forums to remind myself that there IS "hope for humanity," and that we can openly discuss things without being told what we can think. Then, when I log off, I trudge back into the trenches with the reminder that there's hope. And then, maybe I delude myself.

I have no clue what happened over there in the past few years. But I am not surprised at all to find out that things didn't improve!

I just checked at a "frugal prepper site" I was very active on a few years back. Even got a "Squirrel of the Month Award" once. I haven't posted there in years, but I still have access to everything. Huh.

A lot of us gave them CONTENT, which brought more willing donators to the site than any $ we could ever provide. I never even got an acknowledgement for that after the original owner left. What I got for all my efforts at putting truth in front of people was my "golden boolit award" removed, the ban-hammer, and a mickey mouse avatar. When $ trumps truth and good information, C-ya.

You'll be fine if you don't rub their noses in it. Once I saw what was really going on and poked the bear until I got the full answer and was quite certain there was no redemption for that place, I never looked back. All my pearls (such as they are) are here, where they can hopefully be of some use to people who want them.

Ian makes a good point. Many of us provided a lot of content and some put a lot of time and $$$ into the place. Heck, a lot of us even ran auction to benefit someone who allegedly was near destitute, yet somehow managed to show up on another site bragging about their new Gold Wing. Once the powers that be saw the $ signs then nothing else mattered. Darn shame, but I'm not getting irritated by 11 people a day asking, "Can I shoot a GC design w/o a GC?" here!

This is a small forum but even so there are 183,000 replies in 7,800 threads. No one can expect a new member, shooter, reloader, caster to read through that before asking a question. Well I don't anyway. If a new caster doesn't ask questions no matter how simple or previously asked they will never learn anything. The question was important enough to them to post it, deserves a sincere respectful answer. The only dumb question is the one not asked.

I haven't been over there reading in a while, I can only imagine at the BS that has been posted in the last 6 months due to the amount of new people trying out the hobby. That was why I never posted over there, it was more arguing and stupid posts than it was useful information at times.

I found out real quick I would do better at reading instead of posting over there, I have no time to argue with ignorance, Ive also got to the point with a group on facebook, for every question its 50/50 a dude getting hammered for a legit question, albeit it may be simple to us. Im tired of calling some A holes post for what it is, and have it all deleted because I told the truth. I still tell every one who is new to loading or casting, get a manual, or a good book and read, read, read. Reading is too slow in todays times where people need instant answers to questions.

As it happens I was a Moderator there at that time and created a sub-section for GC's and stickied a post at the top titled "Can I shoot a GC design w/o the GC". I'm pretty sure that covers me as far as my not wanting to answer stupid questions with respectful answers. People need to do at least a little cursory research before expecting someone to spoon feed them every single facet of every activity.

I'm done wit this, probably best we let this subject rest lest we ruffle someone feathers.
