Ben,
When you decide to de-gascheck 2 cavities.. Please post your work progress. I never get tired of seeing how you work on those old moulds!

I have shot several different bullets without the gas check that were from molds designed for a check. I can't tell any difference in accuracy nor leading. I question the use of gas checks. I'm not a machinist, so I have not removed the gas check area.

I have had very good success shooting the 180 grain NOE 8mm Ranch Dog Gas checked design boolit in front of 6 grains of Bullseye powder "without any gas checks".
These I lube only in BLL I have no idea what speed they are coming out of my 29" GEW barrel…... but I can group 10 shots in about an inch with receiver sights at 50 yards
no leading and no surprises. Nice and easy on my shoulder and neck too!
If I get to see another of Ben's Tutorials on how to open up the gas check area in a mould I think I'm going to try it with one cavity on this mould ( & also on one cavity on my 165 grain NOE 30 cal ranch dog mould!)

Excellent price for a very fine tool.

I'm not much for gun shows, they are largely a waste of time in CA. I do try to hit the Reno Gun Show once a year, and get primers or whatever else appears that I can't live without. One table-keeper at these shows did specialize in moulds and casting accessories, but I haven't seen him for a couple years.

Now that it used how much would you let it go for? Or better yet how about casting a bunch and then sharing it. :)

I do not know where Jim is in the northeast but here abouts on Cape Cod and abutting states things are scarse. Makes them even more precious when you do find them.

I've had SAECO 311 for about 30 years, haven't used it now in several years. It shot fair in my 308 but across the board in everything I tried it in the comparable RCBS bullets from 160 to 180 gr. grouped better with less load fiddling.

Ben:
I think you got a slight issue with the alignment of the cavity's.
one of your alignment pins is out a tick too far which is just slightly off setting the cavity's.
it is manifesting itself by the parting line, and in the sizing where you are wiping off part of the alignment angle on the drive band.

Yes, I've noticed that also.
Should be easy to correct.

I want to shoot them ( been too hot here , daytime highs near 100 each day ) to see what effects that has on accuracy as they are right now.

Ben;
Great score. I would be VERY surprised if that one didn't shoot. That bullet had a great reputation for accuracy "back in the day"

Good shooting!
