Is MP Molds service reliable?

Same here, if he has it on the shelf no problem. As much as I appreciate Miha's quality and love the molds I'll not be part of another group buy. I was the honcho for my last group buy and from the time he agreed to do the mold it was over two years to have it in hand.

There were a lot of vendor/sponsors like that. Take the money and figure it out later. I never took part in any group buy there. No gas check makers, custom moulds, or anything.

I've never regretted taking the pass.

No, that is not correct. Miha didn't collect a dime until they were made and in boxes ready to ship. Sorry if I gave any other impression.

100%. Its a good way to know its coming too! Just watch for pmt to be taken!!
Thats how it is supposed to be done. Monies should not be taken until part/item has been released from maker/company.

I'm not inclined to wait in line for years to buy anything. I saw enough vendors over there who really, really, messed up. They are the ones who caused my lack of participation in group buys. Remember the gas check maker debacle? Ballisticast? there were others as well. Earlier in this thread it was advised to only order what vendors have on hand, and Miha was specifically suggested. I only buy from sellers with the stock on hand to fill my order. No pre-orders, no "stock is coming in daily", nothing. That included group buys, some of which I made myself some popcorn and watched the whole thing fall apart in dramatic fashion.

Wasn't there one honcho who spent the money he collected on other things and didn't even order the item? Then he claimed that the vendor still hasn't produced the item. Of course not, he never ordered them. I'm trying to remember the guys name, he finally came clean under pressure and was supposedly working to repay the buyers.

I got my best 45 Colt bullet after almost 2 years of waiting. A really nice 375 bullet was even longer.
The group buys lead to some great moulds but you needed to be willing to wait. And wait. and wait.

I would buy from MP again but only in stock moulds. Same with NOE. Probably as easy to go with Tom and get what I want every time.

Mountain Moulds was good right to the end , not much in the way of complaints about Accurate either .

I don't remember what it was now that I signed up for on an MP there were 3 and after nearly 3 years I backed off of all 3 . SWCs a 9 mm 130 and a 40 165 I think were the 2 I really wanted ........ I abandoned the 9mm all together and just shoot the 401-175 TLTC now that I mis-ordered somehow or other .....

NOE I managed to get an inventory restock to fly for the 461-535 AJ4 , 458132 clone , I tried to get a gas check/rebated BT version of a TAC-X 300 that would have been another 405 to go but I came short on interest .

MP was the only group buys I was ever involved with honcho or not. As a honcho I never collected a dime from anyone and I don't know of any other honcho's of MP molds that did either. Possible I suppose but I'm unaware of it. Nor did I ever send any money to anyone for a mold other than Miha himself. Once Miha had the molds finished he personally sent bills to the buyers.

I think LEE was using honcho's for group buys but I have no experience with that or who was doing what with them. If those are the group buys your referring to MP should be left out of the conversation.

I wasn't talking about you, Rick. I know what kind of guy you are, and you'd be one of very few I feel I could trust in such a situation. Between Accurate, and Miha, I can get pretty much anything I need, so I don't feel I've missed out on anything I've wanted because I won't participate in a group buy. I'd still be happy with Lyman if they'd just put more effort into quality.

There was at least one GB honcho that took the money and ran. Several kind of dropped out of sight after a while but resurfaced months later when the moulds were finished.

Yes in Group buys... No I dont have the patience. I lucked into two right at the end and got two nice molds but dont participate any more. Not really directly associated with any particular maker.

My two cents on being a honcho is it’s like hearding cats and it is a Thankless job we really don’t get much for the amount of time involved.
Miha runs safe group buys no money till delivered but it takes forevvvvvvver to wrap up new buys…. Reruns on non hollow point are usually pretty quick.
The pins for the hollow points are always a pain for him he had to out source them and everyone wanted him to buy a minimum quantity so we needed a minimum amount of molds to make ordering pins and shafts feasible.
He just bought a machine to make them in-house now. Hopefully that helps speed things up.

My take on bullet molds. Custom makers for all moulds. Get the bullet diameter you actually want/need. Life is too short to mess with fussy molds. Lee-menting.

Tom at Accurate for anything but HP's.............cause he doesn't offer them. I don't believe he offers RN or spire point, either.

MP for HP moulds. Don't care for NOE's RG system. Don't want anything on the bottom of my molds.

NOE for non HPs and what Tom doesn't offer................for example pointed bullets for my AR-10

Been in a couple of Group Buys. Good molds but long wait.

YMMV

Hi,
I guess I'm lucky, I have pretty much everything I want.

Molds are "funny", cause, the ones you want and don't have, keep calling...

And the ones you do have, and don't use, are still ,hard to sell!
