I seen that one about 2 years ago on another forum. The guy was beta testing it. But is was not Garmin. Looks like Garmin bought the guys design. I like Garmin stuff I have 2 of their depth finders in my boat. They have been the only kind that has not given me any problems.

Definitely have to check that out. My only chronograph died of a gun shot wound a good while back.
It was one of those old school ones without shades.

It certainly is much smaller than the Labradar. It says $599.99 on the website. If street prices are lower - it could give Labradar a run for it's money.

I will have to check this out - as I have been wanting to pickup a Labrador and get rid of my other chronographs.

Looks like it has a MAP price of $599.99 so prices will not be lower. A bunch of places have them listed for sale but on backorder. All of them are at the MAP price

Reading tests (I know magazine tests are more than suspect) show it is not alignment critical like the LabRadar. That and the fact that it has rechargeable batteries that last 6 hrs. are huge plusses. It is only 3"x2 3/4"x1" plus a neat little compact tripod lets you pocket the darn thing.

I have had a number of Garmin products, early GPS unit, a later mapping GPS, and a fishfinder. All have worked as advertised and have been very rugged. Even the early GPS unit still functions like new. It must be over 30 yrs old now.

My Pro-Chrony is still functioning halfway decent, but if it ever starts to fail I will be sorely tempted to buy one of those new Garmins. I love not having to monkey around down range setting them up.

There was one for sale across the counter at our local Cabela's for the going rate of $599. Two plus times the going rate for something that's currently available is just silly, and just when you thought the Covid stupidness was over. The counter guy didn't have much to say about it except he tested it by shooting rubber bands over the top of it. I didn't ask to handle it but it's a neat very small package. I'm not sure I'm trading in my Oehler 35 away, but it is interesting. Supposedly the battery isn't replaceable.

Supposedly the battery isn't replaceable.
That is one of my biggest concerns, the ability to swap the batteries. At least the LabRadar can use one of the el-cheapo external USB battery banks.

My little rechargeable hair clippers that won't take much of a charge anymore, reminded me this morning of the importance of being able to easily replace the batteries.

They sell that same device as a golf ball tracker for the same price.

Garmin has a history of not supporting products when they start to get long in the tooth. If I paid this amount for a chrono, I'd want it to last for the rest of my life. My past experience with Garmin is when you have one of their GPS units that dies or needs the internal memory battery replaced, they tell you that they don't service those any longer. That's fine for a car or pocket GPS. But for a marine unit that gets hard mounted with holes drilled, installing a new one normally means new holes and plugging old holes.

I own their products, but I'm not a big fan.

I have a question for those who may own a LabRadar chronograph. Does the big rectangular shape cause issues with the wind trying to knock it over?

I use tripod weights for my view cameras, and I suppose you could do the same for the LabRadar.

Wind gusts out in the pasture have ripped a 10' pop up tent out of the ground, carried it head over heels and mangled it - even with stakes driven into the ground for the legs. The thought of a $600 chronograph doing the same worries me some.

Just ordered the Garmin from PewPewSolutions and got a 20% discount. Total cost was $488.64 to my door.
The discount code is: garmin.20 if anyone is interested.
