New Ruger Super Wrangler

I like it! Wish this had been available 6 months ago before I bought a Wrangler.

Interesting...

The Wrangler is not legal for sale in Minnesota, presumably due to the MN "Saturday Night Special" law.

With the changes to the Super Wrangler it might end up being available in MN.

I wonder if the "Super" will be available in Minnesota?
The standard Wrangler is not, due to Minnesota's Saturday night Special law.

I know & understand the idea. Heritage hurt sales.

Ill stick with my Single Six/Seven/Nine/Ten

If I ever wear out the three screw Single Sixes, then I can start to wearing out the Bi-Centennial NM stainless steel SS convertible. Those three will still be shooting when some type of plasma energy beam digital computer generated remote control disruptor is State of the Art. The only real threat to them will be confiscation or unavailability of rimfire ammo.

Online suppliers have plenty of rimfire ammunition, based on the daily emails, I receive. It's just not as affordable as it was in the past. Averaging, 7-10 cents per shot.................about what a single primer costs, these days.

I guess my point was these old Rugers are built so well they may well out live the manufacturing of rim fire ammo.

The Super Wranglers cylinder frame is Zinc alloy, same as the regular Wrangler. The grip frame is Aluminum, same as the Wrangler and Single Six.
I’m definitely going to check the Super Wrangler out.

Not according to Ruger's spec sheet:

Cylinder frame material is Alloy Steel. Also, if you look at the weight, it's 37.7 ounces. Still think Ruger miss the boat by not making it an eight shot.

I haven't pursued the Ruger Wrangler series revolvers, I am well-stocked in the 22 handgun department.

California does not restrict single-action revolvers very much, they are exempt from the safety certification rigamarole that D/A revolvers and autopistols have to comply with.

Thanks for the correction, Winelover.
I read previously that they were the zinc-ish ones also and with the low price quoted I assumed that they were.
So, perhaps Ruger passes on the labor savings of painting instead of bluing?

I’ve always thought Ruger has some of the best manufacturing engineers in the world. Nobody bats 1000 but by and large they hit the ball pretty well.

I'll opt for the more durable Cerakote finishes, over bluing, all day long. Had my SS 1894 Marlin done, over twenty years ago.............almost indestructible.

So, this is really just a Single Six made from pot metal, right? What is the attraction for this gun, the low price? The first handgun I ever purchased was a stainless Single-Six with 2 cylinders. I even have a scope mount for it. I don't shoot it much. But doubt that I'd ever sell it.

My only complaint with the Single-Six is Ruger missed the boat when they did not make it a Single-Ten.

My one complaint that Ruger does with the regular Wrangler and this one follows is both use a grove of 0.224" and not the 0.222" that the 22rf is supposed to have. it may not be much but that extra diameter can really hurt a 22rf. Some can be shot gun accuracy. I can see where they can't do it with the 22mag guns but to make the rimfire guns with the wrong barrel is just stupid. It is not like they don't make their own barrels and have to rely on another company like they used to before they made their own barrels.
