Powder funnel for Dillon 450 that bells mouth of .250 Savage brass

He has a 450, it doesn’t have the powder measure but rather a funnel. Think of a 4 station press with not “automation”.

The groove would be required for the funnel to work, otherwise the expander will just come out the top of the die body.
OK, that makes sense. But wouldn't the total depth still be adjusted by the outer body of the die?

So if he only needs another 6/10" (as he stated in his prior post: "...After many attempts to contact Dillon for help and not getting any phone calls returned, I tried again today and asked the tech rep how much to cut off the top of the 543R so that I could use it for both the. 250 Savage and .25-06. He said about 6/10ths of an inch should do it..) ..why not just screw the die body out by 6/10"?

I'm certain that this is a communication problem on my end but I'm just not following what the problem is.
If the expander has the correct dimensions and profile on the end that enters the case mouth, all that is left to adjust is the depth and that's adjustable by the threaded die body. What am I missing?

Perhaps I can explain.....The 543R funnel fits inside the neck of small 25 caliber cases such as 25-20.
However, when I went to install this funnel in my die, and lock it down with the set screw, I noticed that the funnel part that fits inside the case was almost sticking out of the die body. No problem says I, I will just adjust the whole die upward in the press. Wrong...I ran out of threads in the top of the press when the ram had reached it's full stroke.
Perhaps some kind of adapter could be made that I could screw into the press to give me more 7/8x14 threads on the inside of it to mount correctly?!

they make a powder adapter for the 450, it's for adding a powder dump.
that may help.
but i'd be more inclined to have my funnel cut and grooved for the set screw.
the adapter doesn't allow for any up or down movement it just sits static and you dump into it.

Fiver--Do you know the Dillon part number for the powder adapter you mentioned?
I don't have to worry about up and down movement as the powder measure on the 450 is stationary.
It might be the best way to go as I understand that the Dillon powder funnels are of hardened steel and difficult to customize.

i think David? gave you the part number in the other thread.
i have one on hand, but i'd probably have to look in an older blue press to find the number.[if i have one kicking around]
i would bet a phone call would get you one without it though, since it might not be listed in the newer ones.

i haven't got a blue book in a couple of years, nor needed any parts for any of my Dillon presses.

At large, whereabouts unknown.
The powder funnels for rifle calibers are different from the pistol calibers. The powder funnel fits over the case mouth, not into it. If you want to expand the case mouth beyond what the sizing die has already done, you must use a separate die. Dillons RL450/RL550 conversion kit for 250 Savage is listed as Dillon part number 20147.
