I'm not close to being out, but thought I might better pick up some small pistol primers today.
Hate to pay these prices, but the prices don't seem to be dropping around here. Some are selling for $110 per K. I bought 3K small pistol primers @ $70 per K today.

My brother and I did the same. Since summer we split 10K each SPP and LPP.
Better buy now while it’s available. The future is unknown…

Bass pro today had those same primers on the shelf 67.99. (So same cost). This was cheapest they had but they had 79.99 and 109.99 too. Probably 50 bricks total.

Here's a hint: Twenty States Att Gen signed a letter (this mo) to a newly organized agency (established by Biden in Sept 2023 and headed by VP Kamala) to combat Gun Violence and it's called the OFFICE of GUN VIOLENCE PREVENTION. The 20 states listed demand that the govt. STOP the sale of "military grade" ammo to/for civilian use. Specifically cited was Lake City ammo.
You'd think that would creat a surplus of rifle primers, but they're already working on that issue as well.
DIRECT violation of the Second Amendment.
Anyone think they'll stop with just Lake City Ammo?
Lead Att Gen on the letter is Letitia James.

Good idea Ben.
Prices on powder sure aren't going down, so I doubt primers will either.
Powder Valley sent out an email on Friday saying they are raising their prices on powder tomorrow.

I just wish I could find some large pistol primers.
They seem to be unobtainium.

Large pistol seem to be hardest for me as well. I should probaly stock up now, not desperate yet by any means at the rate I'm shooting now.

I'm not gonna lose anymore skeep over this, if I run out and can't get more, I'll just go back to archery or take up metal detacting or one of the many other hobbies I'd like to try someday. Won't mean the end of the world for me.

I have lots of Small primers. It's the LRP that's short fortunately I have a couple standbys with srp brass. I also took advantage of give away prices on SPP 45 ACP brass, I can't get hot Colts out of it but I'm pretty sure the BH will handle start Rowland loads .

There's about 10 powders on the shelf in town but no primers. As long as I don't open the 8# Unique, kill off the last 10# of Red Dot AND have a pound of Herco left I'm not going to sweat pistol stuff.

I have ,mostly by accident, a couple 1000 of each pistol mag primer of both so if things get really bad . SPP and SRP are good for a while longer . LRP is where I'm hurting. Fortunately Dad's stuff had a couple K in it .

209s may result in finding out just how much difference there is between the ML , H and W flavors . The FC 209As are all gone along with the RP 57s . With 3-4k factorys on hand I'm not sweating 12 or 20 ga .

I only picked 1k of the FC/LC FMJ because it was giveaway priced .

I bought a #10 cap maker that makes a passable cup that works on most of my #11 stuff . I really don't know how many German rolls caps I have but i have a leather punch that just fits the dot . I may have to revisit it as a standard .

Well, we are supplying small arms and ammunition for two wars and I've read our own military stockpile is depleted to the point that it will take a decade to replenish it.
There are only so many powder and primer manufacturers in the world, and many and not on US soil.
This may not reflect the prices we pay, but it might
Just saying.

I have way more rifle primers than I need. I haven’t shot a rifle in anything beyond a pistol caliber in a couple years.

The current estimate of the number of firearms in the U.S.A. in private hands is over 393 MILLION.

The current U.S. population is 336 million. (we are the 3rd most populous nation on the planet)

Don’t underestimate the enormous strain that the U.S. consumer puts on the firearm’s industry. Wars and military demands pale in compassion to the demand created by private consumers.

The private sector FAR outstrips the government in terms of demand for ammunition and components. Same holds true for petroleum, vehicles, food, lumber and just about everything else. (As it should in a thriving economy in a free nation)

Did not believe you till I looked it up. US consumers about 6.5 billion a year, military about 1 billion, non-military government .5 billion.
