Am I the only one who keeps getting rained out for range time?

I don't like wet guns, and I really hate the mud.

Seems to be going around. It drizzled solid for about six days straight and then went on/off all day for the next few until now.

Been about 14 days since we have seen a drop of rain. The grass and leaves on the trees are dried up.

Hopefully we get some rain soon or I'm gonna have to start feeding the cows hay earlier than planned.

i'll send you the snow we been getting.
most of it has melted down lower and just turned all the dirt roads into a slimy slippery not so fun mud festival.
I slid the truck through some ruts today and thought I was gonna put a hole in the rear tire then bounced the bumper off the side of the mountain in another spot.
I was pretty surprised I didn't set off the air bag when I hit the tree coming down the other side, but that was preferable to dropping the 20' down into the creek.

We have had rain better than half the time the past couple weeks. I am over it at this point.

Were in a drought. Since August 28th., we only received 1 1/2" of rain......my food plot isn't happy.:( I'm irrigating, every other day. Most counties are under red flag warnings, if not burn bans.

At the casting bench in the sky. RIP Bret.
Been wet here all of our so called "summer". We just had 3 weeks of dry weather, but the grounds so wet you can't get hay to dry in less than 3-4 days, and that tedding every day which doens't help the leaves stay on. Raining now, but I'm hoping for another couple weeks of dry weather or I'm gonna be rather short on hay.

I have not had it bad. Clear blue sky when I left the house. By the time I got to the range and set up cloudy and over cast. Went ahead and shot. Things worked out ok, but not as good as I thought the should be. Blamed it on the clouds. NEVER the shooter!
Picked up and loaded gear, headed home. Yup, cleared off again crystal clear before I got home.
That thing called a job sure gets in the way of my hobbies!

Jeff, you are right about the job thing. It takes up way more time than it should, not near enough time for hobbies.

Got to Indoor range on tues, and outdoor range on Thurs. Thurs
was the only day without rain. Shot 30-30, and the Bubba 03,
and did a little can plinking with both at 50 yds. Bubba has a
very short throat for an 06, but had a bunch of deep seated
284's, that look odd seated deep, but they shot well. Raining
again this a.m.

Managed to have the rain hold off for a couple of hours yesterday, took niece and her boyfriend to the range. .22 rifle, then .22 pistol, then 1911 .45 ACP, then
Colt Cobra .38 Spl in double action mode, then to the rifle range for ARs - SP1 for iron sight intro, then a few with ACOG sighted
one. Good time was had by all. She wants to do more double tap practice with the 1911. :D:D:D

Well I stayed home over the weekend. Figured the "orange army" would be out.
I did venture to Cabelas in search of some full length gas check projectiles. No luck for what I was seeking. I tell you guys what, I could not get out of that place fast enough! I was sure afraid some of the "stupid"'in there was going to rub off on me! Maybe I am just getting older and crankier, and less tolerance of stupid. I have been told I have always been cranky, I wear that badge with pride, lol.

I did get out to the range this am and just got home. An old 223 Savage, another Savage we just swapped the 223 for a 204 and my Bushmaster AR.
Old savage did not disappoint. This one is from the 80's and is a long action. I bought it for a build but it just shoots so good.
Had no idea what was going to transpire with the 204 after having tore it apart. Barrel was pretty much a new take off and new it could be a crap shoot. Chased paper for a few shots. Got it lined up and it was easy to work with after that. A bit of improvement but it looks to be promising. All I have read, most guys had no luck with the 40 grain. This one seems to like them and ran 15 rounds and more than half stayed around an inch. Operator I am sure was a lot of it.
The bushmaster came out and a couple of guys I enjoy shooting with showed up. Tinkered with it a bit and it came around good, way better than I ever dreamed. I was shooting CFE under a Hornady 55 gr Spt. 10 rounds into an easy 1 1/2"@100. My friends that showed up ran some of their ammo through it and proclaimed it a success. I ran 10 rounds of Hornady #2250 with a dose of Varget into one hole. I should have went down and cut that one out but I didn't as it got busy.
May have to do some glass swapping as this tactical 10x super sniper has bit heavier cross hair than I like.
FYI, I shot more jacketed ammo today at one sitting than I have in the last 10 or so years combined. Kind of ashamed of myself.

Out here in NE PA! This time of year means Hurricane season! No matter where they are headed they aways dump on us because of the mountain chain!
Makes for great casting weather! but recently with the rain they have brought heat! I have been casting like a fool! It has been good humidity wise but it is Hot for this time of year!

Was going to shoot tomorrow but forecast is for rain, 45°, and 10-15 mph wind. I will stay home instead.
