I started working with Midsouth in the mid-eighties, then added Natchez and Wiley's, which was "in town" (Huntsville) but now defunct. Midway came along and I tried my best to appreciate them, but every order I placed for their "come-on" ads yielded exactly NONE of the advertised specials ever being in stock, and I only ever got the extra non-sale items I ordered. Got the exact same treatment from Sportsman's Guide and placed Midway in the same class. Tried Midway several times again over the years and never once had as good an experience as from others. It actually got worse over time, so they just sort of don't exist to me. No sour grapes, I just don't think of them when it comes to finding what I need. It felt like they were more interested in becoming the biggest that they tripped all over themselves along the way.
Home Depot sure packages stuff well! Got a package from them today and it was impressive.
Packaging, in general, seems to be the least concern of anyone anymore. The packaging INDUSTRY seems to continue to try to innovate, but companies buy into the latest innovation and then muck it all up. Can't hardly get into a food package without mutilating it these days. GLUE must be FREE or someone's paying people to take it, because there seems to be an excess of it in just about everything I have to try to open these days.
Packing, shipping, delivery, all swirling in a vortex right now and prices keep going up and quality keeps going down. Wondering just how this will shake out eventually. I've backed WAY off what I order online and just do without a lot these days just because shipping adds 50% to 30A% of the total order. That's stuff not even subject to the bogus "hazmat" extortion charge.
