I bought an FN , 8 shot, 12 ga. , 2 3/4" or 3 ", with rifle sights.
The gun is a police trade in. I'd rate it at about 90 - 95% condition.

I keep the shotgun in my bedroom.
I no longer use a pistol for home defense, I'm a shotgun man now.

Some of you said you'd like to see how this one shoots, well here it is.

I have done A GREAT DEAL of shotgun-shooting over the years, between bird hunting since age 10--claybird blasting since age 14 (to stay sharp for Item #1)--and later as a lawdog and rangemaster for same.

IME. your results are a little "tight" for 10 yards--you do say "paces", so I don't want to split hairs here. Besides, a little "tighter" is better in my view. Generally, I have found in firing close to 250 different Rem 870 police shotguns--both bead-topped and rifle-sighted--that 1 yard of forward travel corresponds roughly to 1" of pattern diametric expansion. This is constant regardless of choke constriction with birdshot or buckshot. What changes is with increased choke constriction is percentage of shot found in the pattern center, which tracks smaller as constriction increases (to a point). Buckshot doesn't like full choke at all, from #4B to #00B. Modified is a bit better, Improved cylinder or cylinder is a toss-up for "best". Usually, makers install cylinder bore in bead-sighted defensive shotgun barrels, and improved cylinder in rifle-sighted barrels in the belief that IC does the best work with Foster slugs. My experience bears that out, but not strongly--it might be kind of a self-fulfilling prophesy made manifest by the presence of the better sighting tools. In the hands of someone who knows what they are about, either bead- or rifle-sighted shotguns are decisively lethal and sufficiently accurate to take out bad guys to at least 50 yards with Foster slugs. Just be aware that most bead-sighted shotguns--regardless of barrel length or choke constriction--are designed to "print" the pattern downrange somewhat high (relative to point of hold) because it is assumed that the shotgun is to be used on a moving target, and folks like to hold a bit below that target to track it more efficiently. Rifle-sighted shotguns, conversely, are meant to be used "point-of-aim = point-of-impact".

I enjoy handguns and rifles of most types, but I get LYRICAL about shotgunning. It is by far my best weapon.

Many yr ago I worked up goose load with size B .170 dia.
The BPS I shot then had a special steel bbl on it . It shot a pretty loose modified with lead . It had a choke taper that ran about 4.5 inches long . Anyway it would hold 30" to about 25 yd with 6,7or 8 shot. 00B halved that but I only shot about 10 rounds . Those steel Bs though look out . All 105 pellets in a 1 1/16 oz went inside 27" at 40 yd . 4.5 ft-lb by the math per pellet .
Not really the same thing but definitely a very similar saw effect .

In a previous life,before marriage,so that's 35 years....

Was on a "pro-stock" turkey shoot circuit/circus?Sleeved barrels,back bored,18+ x scopes,Red letter 37 Winchester's ruled the games.
Even made it to the Superbowl a cpl years.

There certainly was a science to it....but,the winners weren't always the best prepared.Meaning,we'd see patterns/winners that,on that particular night couldn't be beat.

Testing and experimenting seemed to push the envelope, more so than measured specifics....if that makes sense.

But good shooting nevertheless!

Edit;EXTREMELY fast cars are required in certain instances.....

Wouldn't wanna be standing in front of that!

Are you planning to try slugs?

I'd think that the loads that you see above will work for 99.9% of my home defense needs, but.....yes, I do plan to try a few slugs to see if the sights are " dialed in " for slugs.

I have long maintained that if one could only have one weapon, a 20" pump shotgun threaded for chokes would be THE one to have. Squirrels, bunnies, birds, skeet, deer, pigs, Buicks, bad guys, cans, whatever, they make a load for that.

Among other duties as a young Marine, I was an additional duty cross country prison chaser.
That required proficiency with a 1911, and a 12g riot gun. I shot both a mod 97 Win, and
a 37 Ithaca. Prefered the Ithaca as recoil was less.

I have great respect for riot guns and
double ought buck out to 25-30 yds. Shot dove with a 97 Riot gun one year and with #9's
to 25-30 yds it was deadly. Open bore shotguns are IMO the best home protection weapons.
There is an unmistakable recognition that comes with the rack of a 12 gage pump. It makes
things get real quiet, real quick.
