Used to shoot the Speer half jacket plinkers in the Marlin. Fun at 50 but not too accurate, using unique and seating very long.

You just described the very first handloading I ever did. Unique, Speer plinkers, and a 336 Texan. Even had a 50-yard range at home where they got shot. If I walk the old range I can still find the jacket cups here and there, they opened up like trumpet horns and ejected the core if they hit anything at all like cardboard or paper. IIRC they were minute of beer can, good enough for an enthusiastic 15-year-old.
