401 Winchester Model 1910

At the casting bench in the sky. RIP Bret.
How would you compare these to the Remington Model 8...?

I've handled several 351 WSL and lots' of 8's and 81's. The Winchester is physically smaller and, to my mind, clumsier. The Rem is larger, feels better to me and certainly chambered in better rounds IMO. Not really a fair comparison, but to me the Win SL vs the Rem 81 is kinda like the difference between an really heavy SKS and an M1 Garand. The WSL is more of a collectors gun than a user. Just making the brass is a chore, and then you shoot it and fling it off into the brush! Kind of a losing proposition outside of a clean range. But, I'm getting old and really lazy, so don't let me discourage you at all. Go for it!

There, 2 cents of opinion and worth just what you paid for it! ;)

Saw a home made leather and metal deflector on "logcabinlooms" that worked nicely. Have no desire to be cutting down 414 SM brass just to watch it go flying away like SKS brass.
