I found a Lee 6.5 170 gr mold. I wanted to try it in my M96 Swede. I cannot find any load data for a 170 gr cast. Anyone here familiar with that mold?

Thanks

Try 9 or 10 gr Unique at 1400-1500 FPS. That bullet likes to make oblong holes on target. You might have to seat it deeply into the case to get it to chamber due to the oversized nose. Lots have milled it down to reduce the weight and change the center of gravity on it with some success.

There have been many arguments over that bullet, which is often referred to
as the "Cruse Missle"

I agree, B_L. I think Lyman still makes #266-673, a bore rider at 150 grains or so. A friend provided samples of both it and of #266469, and with a variety of loads the Loverin/469 did just a bit better. My rifle is a Ruger 77R in 6.5 x 55.

The thin, long -673 nose creates a hotdog-down-a-hallway situation in military Swedes, virtually unshootable in my experience. The -469 is a good bullet, but chronically undersized in all dimensions despite being generally the correct shape. The -469 worked very well for me when lapped its full length until bullets measured .2685" on the main bands.

Thanks, I was afraid it was too big to re-size for 6.5. I will order one tomorrow. Thanks again.

What, do you think your rifle will need .265" bullets (like according to Lyman) or something?

Make an impact slug of your chamber/throat and find out why we've all been saying what we've been saying on your 6.5 threads.
