A trip back in time............

Brad, I DID buy gas at 19.9 cents in HS, and I SURE DID bitch when it went up
to 60 cents a gallon. At the time gas was 19.9, I was earning 75 cents an hour working
on a farm, although a couple years later I almost doubled that pay at a different
farm. Worked an hour to afford a bit more than 2 gallons of gas. Ouch.

I have three Lyman 310 tools. I started with one in 7x57 and really like the priming
tool, even today. I picked up a .30-06 from my father's estate and was given a
.22 Hornet unit, have not yet found a deal on a Hornet to be able to use it.

Was interesting to see ESSO gas stations in England two years ago. Here in the states it has been Eron for so many years. On the outskirts of London, gas at that time was selling at about the equivalent of 6.50-7.00 (US) a gal. It is metered by the Liter however.
Just got a 30-30,. 310 seater on ebay. When I complete the set, will have full sets for 5 Ctgs. It is sort of a "don't need, but want to have" thing.

Been using 310's for ages. What gets me is like on eBay when you see listed as a "complete set" of dies, and will be only two or three dies. And seldom ever is the case adapter ever with most full set of dies because they're left in the tools and not put with their respective dies. Old school loaders know these things, but antique dealers and estate sale vultures that buy for a fast buck don't know diddly about loading dies and tools.

Me? I load 6 different calibers with my 310's and have a great time doing so.:)

Oh I love the non loaders that list a current production 310 tool and dies as "vintage" or "rare". :rolleyes:That just floors me! Do they really think no one will notice?

Notice? They don't care, they're looking for the guy that doesn't know any better. Just like the ebay NOE mold for sale a week or so ago. Buy it now for $300 cause it's custom. I didn't follow it but I'll bet it sold.

Think now & then about going down to the Mr. Litchfurd's Gulf gas station in Riverside, Michigan and enjoying a Grape NeHi from his floor cooler. 5 cents a bottle.
Only 19 cents a gallon gas I bought was along old RT 66 where it crosses the Merrimac River in Missouri summer of 1970 on the way west on a two wheeler.
Started my reloading with a Lee wack a mole model in 32 Winchester Special. That was my only tool till after the "pickle suit brigade" turned me loose in 74. Started with a RCBS JR then got a 310 with my first Trapdoor 45-70. Still load all the ammo for that 84 with that "cruncher".

Guess about all I use is "vintage". Today I loaded 50 rounds of .38Spl on my Lyman Spar-T turret press using Lyman All American dies. Yes, the kind ya gotta lube. With an old Lyman #55 measure in a hole, I was dropping a loaded round in the box every 27 seconds from deprime/size to seat & crimp. Not counting the wipe off after loading of course. Not bad for 60's technology huh?
