Thanks for the heads up...............need to check my stash. I know I have at least two of the three powders affected on hand.

Well, I looked at my powders and found I had all three. The XMR 4350 was not of the recalled lot. However, both the 2495 and 4064 were in the recall notice. Spoke with a tech at Western Powders and he took my info and asked that I immediately render them inert. Requested, I email him a photo of the three one pound containers with a post it note of my personal ID#. Which, I just sent.............will be receiving a $105 check in the mail.

That's what I did................ dumped in my woods. They recommended filling the containers with water.

Apparently, the country of manufacture is the issue. The 4350, I have, is made in the Czech Republic, and is OK. The 4064 and 2495 is made in Canada.

Western Powders will be sending a check for $70 for the two 1-pounders.
The powder doesn't seem to be affected in any way, per all the questions a guy named Don asked, but I reckon Western Powders and General Dynamics, the manufacturer, are playing it safe.
I'm to fill the containers with water and dispose fo them, but will wait till the check arrives.
Also, per Don the 400-plus Garand rounds are safe, because there wasn't any foul odor, reddish dust, or off-colored powder when I loaded them.

I talked with Ron. My powders seemed fine, but.........better to be safe than sorry. Rather not have this much powder going off at one time and leveling my recent garage build.

Noticed that the protective seal on the 4064 turned from white to yellow and disintegrated. I have never had that happen on powders that are much older.

Did they give a time frame for these powders? What would be the date the recall began? Only one of those powders I have would be 4064 and that's probably 30 years old.

The link in my initial post has a list of the affected lot numbers.
There is no mention of manufacturing dates, but the recall notice is dated 11-18-19.

holy buggarfile, that extends the 2495 lots clear back to like 1992.
I still have 2 lbs of lot 2 and 1lb of lot 3 marked 16.95 a lb, and 18.95 a lb.

thank god it doesn't extend to loaded ammo because I have umm a lot of 223 ammo loaded with it.
[both of the lots still smell fine and show no type of rust or contamination]
them and the rest of the 4064 will end up outside though.

speaking of which the 4064 did seem to burn a little quicker the last time I used it last spring, it generally is a touch slower than IMR 4064 but I could see the results acting like it was about as fast as 4895.

I'm not gonna send them a bill for the little bit i'll have to throw out, I had my chance to shoot it.
I will definitely be looking at that 223 ammo though.

and thank GOD it isn't 4100, number-9, 1680, or 2230.
those I have in enough volume that it would get me a check big enough to buy a new Trap gun.

You should be safe. My 8# jug of 4350 wasn't subject to recall. When I purchased it in 1999, I put a date on it.

Mine arrived in yesterday's mail also, and I will be disposing of the powder shortly.
